NFCU After BK

Anyone have any experience obtaining a CC thru NFCU after a BK or with lower scores? If so could you share your experience. I currently have bk discharged 05/14 and have a CAP1 QS 2K credit line and an auto loan since May.

Navy Fed will take care of you. I was discharged 3/27/14. Opened checking and savings and swirched my direct deposit within the first week and also took out a credit builder loan with them to get activity on my credit report. I had to purchase a car about 3mthsago and was stuck with Cap 1 at 10.99. Today my scores sit around 640. i decided to take the plunge and applied for a 1k line overdraft line of credit from NFCU which was approved and then really rolled the dice and tried to refi the Cap 1 auto loan that i had only made 2 payments on so far. i was surpirsed when NFCU approved within 30 min at 4.29% and also will give me a $300 gift card after the first 2 payments are made.

I'd like to know too. My dad was in the army, but he's no longer living. He passed away of cancer. So I would like to join but I don't know if I would qualify with that.

I was discharged from BK in February 2013, got my first NFCU card and an auto refi in May, my second card in July and a NavChek in August. I think you're good to go. What are your scores looking like right now? I think if you're at least 600 on EQ you won't have any problems.

My EQ is showing 590 on myFICO. Should I wait a little bit to my scores come up? It doesnt look like my Capital One CC is showing on my credit report yet.

Thats great to hear about your success with them! I am currently banking with Bank of America who are not bk friendly so moving to another bank and growing a good relationship financially again is my goal and it seems like they are definately the right place

At 590 they may or may not make you get secured. It's up to you whether to wait or apply now. Have you cleaned up your reports?

I have two disputes with EQ that should be taken care of by 10/10 but when I pulled my reports my scores showed EX 653 EQ 644 TU 643 -but myfico shows EX590 and from what I read on the other forms its the myfico number that is a true based score.

Correct, those other scores would be fakos.

I'm over two years out from my BK, but my NFCU Signature Cash Rewards card was approved, with $8000 CL, with a lender pulled EQ FICO of 669.

I apped for a cashRewards 4 months post bk7 and was apprived for $1,000 I don't remember my score exactly but I do know it was barely above 600. I did have a secured card through NFCU starting the day of d/c as well.. YMMV

Scurpa how were they with your credit line increases? I am going to call them today to set up my bank account/savings with them since I want to get away from Bank of America to begin with. I also removed myself as an authorized user on a CC with my mother she has had an emergency and her utlization is high so I don't think that will be helping me any longer. I will garden until about Feb/May and let my Capital One report for a few months and apply then. Fingers crossed I can stick to my plan

Hmm, I have family that retired from the armed service. Neither one of them lives anymore though. Guess I'm out of luck.

I was approved for the NFCU Cash Rewards CC in February 2014 with a TU FICO score of 678. My original CL on this card was $2k. I contacted NFCU earlier this month to inquire about a CLI on my Cash Rewards CC. After a few questions I was given a CLI of $12k which raised my total CL to $14k. I've had this card for approximately 7 months (6 statements) and the CLI did NOT require a HP of my credit. My usage on the Cash Rewards card has ranged from $400 to $1250 monthly and I always PIF. NFCU is an awesome lender that recognizes responsible card usage.

So far NFCU has been my ace in the hole. They approved me for 1k almost 3 months post BK7 and I'm looking forward to their generous CLI's. I will be apping them for a car loan in a few months and I'll just have to wait and see what kind of rate they offer. I was in the low end of the 600's when they approved my Cash Rewards Visa.
