Getting a CC with navy federal while still in ch 13 BK

Hey everyone I've been lurking for a few days now but I recently joined NFCU and I wanted to know if anybody has gotten approved for an unsecured card while still in bk....I have 6 months left but wanna get a jump start on getting my credit up to par.....I was just approved for the secure last week....my CS is 581 EQ 574 TU and 563 EX they pulled TU and EQ

I doubt they'll approve when you are still under bankruptcy protection... Not only that but you aren't allowed to obtain any new credit without trustee permission.

A trustee with a chip on his shoulder can make things very difficult for you if he finds out you are opening new accounts prior to discharge... Up to and including filing a motion to dismiss your case. It's a big deal. The trustee is not your friend.

Look at my profile in my sig that I've built over the last 2 years. I started the day after discharge and didn't have any problems.

Don't risk problems with your case... Wait till discharge.

I think someone recently posted that NFCU required discharge paperwork as well.

My husband and I both got NFCU unsecured cards while in an active ch13. They were the only bank we found that would give us a chance.

Interesting... that both NFCU approved you with an active BK and the trustee approved you to get an unsecured CC while still under bankruptcy protection.

Unless you didn't tell the trustee.

My attorney stressed no new credit without trustee permission... failure to comply could lead to actions up to and including the trustee filing a motion to dismiss. The trustee isn't your friend. All he cares about is getting the most money for your creditors.

It's too bad that more people aren't informed by their attorney of the seriousness of applying for new credit prior to discharge without permission.

For the record, I've rebuilt a solid profile and didn't start until the day AFTER my discharge and haven't had any issues. I didn't have to go with secured cards or garbage lenders like Credit One either. Rebuilding is easy... just requires patience.

Our trustee was very pro filer and encouraged rebuilding. He never took pay increases, tax returns, etc. We had both even gotten higher paying jobs between filing and our 341 which we disclosed to him and his comment was "congratulations." Not all trustees are created equal, we were very lucky.

I'm not exactly sure how someone with a job that is to get the most money for the creditors could be "pro filer" but congrats. Maybe he just didn't care about his job... LOL

Eastern District of NC. I remember the day we had our 341. He gave a little speech before he started meeting with people and he went on about how this was a fresh start and how much he hoped we would take this opportunity to better our lives and not see him again. His office also diligently reported updates to our case on 13data center., which was nice to watch our progress. As much as being in a 13 sucks, he made it as good as it could have been. I wish everyone could have a trustee as awesome as ours was.

I tried and........APPROVED 500 limit cash rewards!!! Low limit but its better than just secured (I have two of them visa and master) as well as two car loans with them all accounts were paid early and in full every month and car paid up until next year before I even applied for the cash rewards. Once I discharge I'll ask for a CLI!!!!
