How to surrender my car?

If anyone can help me out or point me in the right direction, that would be great!
We have a car that was financed with Navy Federal which we included in our Chapter 7. We did not reaffirm the car and would like to give it back as soon as possible. Our BK was discharged on August 31 and the case was closed on September 9. So they can pick up the car legally.
The registration was due in April but since we decided we were not going to keep the car, we did not pay the registration.
We got a fix it ticket 2 weeks ago and we either pay the registration or pay the fine. After the ticket, we decided not to drive it anymore since we didn't want to get anymore tickets.
Well today we got two separate parking tickets for expired registration while it was parked infront of our house. I have a feeling that we are going to get a lot more now that we are on there radar. We were told that the police can tow the car after 6 months and 1 day for expired registration.
So... Does anyone have any solid advice on how to get NFCU to either pick up the car or how to drop the car off with them and get a letter of release of liability so I can get the 3 tickets dismissed?

Call them.

They have a procedure to pick up surrendered vehicles.

I had to surrender one of my vehicles when I filed (different lender) and they were very cooperative. You can make direct arrangements now that your discharge is in hand.

DO NOT GET ANYMORE TICKETS. YOU MIGHT BE LIABLE FOR THEM. If it was me I would pay them back to play it safe and I would be afraid of getting arrested 3 years later for a warrant for unpaid tickets. PARK THE VEHICLE IN PRIVATE PROPERTY IF POSSIBLE. If it was me I would do doughnuts in a dirt lot and hit the rev limiter doing burnouts. I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOU DOING burnouts or doughnuts in the car .IT CANNOT BE SAFE. I SIMPLY LIKE THE RUSH AND A LITTLE FUN. YES I KNOW IM DUMB... I am just saying what I would do.

I would love to do a few donuts, that is a great idea! I just have to go see the judge and get them dismissed. I've done it before, it's no too hard. I called Navy today and I had to leave a message for my account specialist. I am going to call them every day until they pick it up or I drop it off. My wife thinks they are scared to talk to me because I sued them for violating the FDCPA a few months back.

Bofore I did the BK 7 thing about 6 months before even seeing an attorney I had a POS car that was financed and it would not run and I needed to make room to buy a used beater that ran. I called and called Santander ( I do not recommend them for auto financing) and they would not pik it up for a voluntary repo. I called and called and nothing. I BSed with them I will pay it back in full if you set APR at 0 percent. ( i knew they would not accept) 3 months go by and they do not want to pik it up, they want me to try to keep it thats what they said. I called them and Said I will personally drive to wherever the payments go to and will leave it parked there OK. They said no, no one will get it there. I said fine, this is what I will do then, I will fill it up with gas full tank, leave it running with windows down (it still ran but trany was shot, 10 MPH MAX) and leave it park in the street by the park and I will just walk away with engine running since you guys do not want to repo it. The agent said NO NO NO NO NO dont do that. Next day they picked it up.

I'm sure they will be more professional than Santander!

You probably have to speak to the Bk department at Navy - I had to communicate with the Bk department to surrender my vehicle at the lender I had so try them rather than the regular CSR.

So, I got a hold of my service specialist in the BK department. He mentioned that he could not call me because of the C&D order. He was very nice and told me someone from repo company would contact me to pick up the car. It should happen by the middle of next week.

Great! Not too much longer to wait for pickup....at least he was nice. And they all say that about the C&D order....that's why I say to call them Congrats on your discharge!

Please note you're still responsible for the tickets on your car until NFCU comes and picks it up from you - similar that you would be responsible for taxes and insurance as you are still the registered owner until you turn in the plates and cancel the registration with your state.

Don't screw yourself now with unpaid tickets that you've gotten a discharge - go ahead and pay them.

In order to pay them I would have to pay the registration which is probably around 400. Then I would have to pay 25 per fix it ticket which comes out to almost 500. As soon as Navy picks up the car, I can show the court that I now longer own the car and the tickets would be dismissed. I have 21 days from the date of citation to pay the fine or fix the violation. If for some reason Navy does not take the car by then, I will have no choice but to bite the bullet and pay the registration and the fix it tickets.

Well... NAVY came and picked up my car.
I just need to get some sort of paperwork showing that so I can get my tickets dismissed.

The day I was discharged, American Acceptance snatched the car from my wife while she was conducting an audit, 30 miles from home. Thank goodness for Uber !
