As a "Reader" for the past 6 weeks, I have learned alot, Thank You!

Waiting is not my strong suit, but I will join the cue of everyone here, and wait.

I have my calendar and tentative list of actions to apply at different CC vendors.

? When will vendors be receptive to a Paid in Full Chapter 13 CC applicant?

I am waiting for my last payment to be made at the end of this month too. The "not knowing when" part anticipation is nerve racking....

Joot, like you, I was waiting for my "last" payment. But along the entire process, there seems to be delays that pop up.

I'm at the point now where all I do is "simply" adjust my time interval. Not that I am happy about it, it is the only option.

I am now conditioned by having read many posts on this site, that this is the only "sane" frame of mind for me to embrace. Not that I want to, but it is a reality.

I have a physical calendar, to keep track of things I do, such as opening savings accounts right now. All I can do from there is just plan forward and adjust.

With things I have gleaned from this site, I have tried to put together information on different CC vendors I would like to use, how they conduct themselves, say are they BK Friendly, or much more conservative or even repelled by the fact. Can I go to them once my file with the CBR's are cleaned up? Or do I have to wait and have more positive and responsible history under my belt and "documented".

So I have tried to spend my time both constructive and in a positive manner. As well as getting enough physical exercise regularly so that I am exhausted and sleep well.

For I have miles to go before I can really sleep well.

Hi OP! I was just discharged in 2/16. I got one of my goal cards two months later. Initially applied less than a month later, because I sent my discharge in to all bureaus the day I got it and it updated the same week. I was denied and reconned and denied again. I recently got the card after cold apping because I didn't prequalify for anything. I have two Amwx cards now!

I would suggest waiting so you don't get too many HPs. That two months flew by for me because I was busy organizing a strategy for improving overall credit.

Thanks for the comments. I actually had a similar thought one day after I heard I got Discharged!

Self: Why hurry? Social calendar says this, why not then? No need to really hurry? I can wait a bit, right? Right?

So that was my self-thought. Letting the dust settle a bit, see what happens in the interim.

In the long run, 6-8 weeks will not matter, only now. (Right:?)

So can I resist, and be self-disciplined? Got to, my new life is that of a Gardener.

* I have also taken the initiative and opened some savings accounts at recommended CU's and a bank.

First Step: Secured Cards.

Later Step: Preferred Vendors who want to see some "Proof is in the Pudding" of paying off monthly balance on time, low utilization rate, restrained spending.

Up to 90 days is the norm... I sent my final payment 2/11/13 and got discharged 5/8/13.

I was in agony reading your saga, and it still hurts seeing it.

Having questions go unanswered that I asked of my attorney, I contacted the Trustee's office to open up a simple dialogue. I was able to ask easy questions of the Admin Assistant about my case such as: How much is my payoff bill? When will all of my creditors be paid? How long after that will "X" happen?

The most important thing I learned was that creditor "payments" are made once a month, period. Meaning your Lump Sum payment can sit there for 20+ days before it goes out to creditors.

Secondly, on Ch 13, an attorney can file a request for additional charges to be assessed for their work. This happened to me. Why do I mention it? The Attorney failed to get his request submitted before the Trustee's monthly deadline for consideration, while knowing full well that from MY specific conversation with him about the completion / payoff / Discharge Order time line I was familiar with, and wanted it to happen SOONER rather than later. * * * so inspite of all of my efforts and DIRECT communication, the attorney's shortcoming provided me the opportunity to WAIT another 30 days.

Third, I intentionally handsomely OVER PAID on my own to the Ch 13 Trustee system, so that there would be no surprise math error to make me wait "an additional" 30 days.

Once the end was in sight, I did everything I could think of to make the process bullet proof, and to conclude smoothly and on time. Yet it still hasn't happened.

Having been informed that I have a Discharge Date ordered by the Court & Judge, does not mean that the Order and refund payment have actually been sent, that is, put in the postal system. Until I have it in hand, it is still just promises.

JPerk, I do feel your pain, and frustration. You are not alone.

As far as I know all I'm waiting on is the discharge. I got my refund in March...two of them actually. One from the trustee, and a secodn that they retruned to my work that was ceditied to my pay check...that one took 6 weeks to show up in my pay after they got the check. Fingers crossed for it to be final this month....

Nicely, politely, and kindly I asked of the Chapter 13 Trustee about my Trustee's Final Report and Debtor Refund Check.

Response was?

A. Didn't send it

B. You should already have received & ca$hed it

C. We failed to send it to the "new" address and it was "returned" from sold home address with the forwarding address on it.

* Answer: C for Competence, Commitment to Excellence, Character, Correct, Consummate Professionals

Politely I ask: Do you happen to know when it was resent to the updated address?

Reply: yesterday

* Thank God both the Trustee & BK attorney were paid first back in March.

2) order of discharge

3) notification that when all checks have cleared Ch 13 Bank, they will file a Final Report and Accounting with the Court there by closing this proceeding

* this could take 90 to 120 days from now.

NO, the CH 13 Discharge Order was NOT a magic bullet.

No action taken by either TransUnion or Experian. Nor Equifax, other than raising my scores a bit.

Actually currently disputing data which is not accurate. Interesting learning process.

Equifax has been easy so far, and it is in motion. Hopefully a correct and factual representation happens sooner or later.

(notice how I am carefully choosing my words at the moment?)

Experian will not even let me into "their" site electronically.

Looks like it will be an envelop and stamp adventure for them.

But I have learned alot so far. Just wondering if this entire process offers a Degree Track for an extra $5 or so.

My scores didn't really budge much from the discharge. Although, my auto loan has not updated yet. It reported this month before the discharge. I'll wait til the next report time frame before doing anything. Not that worried about it. I did things the wrong way and started my rebuild while still in my ch13....even though I wasn't suppsed to. That's a long time to wait to start. I got cards with anyone that would give them during the process. Now it's just time to start weeding the really bad ones out....Matrix card is going , two first premier cards going, two credit one cards (will keep one for now), will probably keep Cortrust mastercard for a while longer....keeping Cabelas Visa...keeping Barclay Rewards MC...keeping WalMart...keeping Applied Bank Visa business card...and I suppose I'll keep my paypal credit line, zales card, and care credit. Plan to replace everything I'm getting rid of with some Capital One products in the next couple months. We're currently working on financing for our house right now. Hoping to close by mid June. Scores are currently sitting at EQ-684 EX-687 TU-653 all Fico.... My score on the TU website is 705. Creditkarma has me at 713 on EQ and 705 on TU...Same from Credit sesame 705 TU

67 days post-Discharge Ch 13 Bk.

* Approved for second Un-Secured Credit Card

Immediately after my Pen Fed credit union Visa reported to all three CRAs, I applied for Navy FCU's cashRewards Visa. This afternoon I was informed of approval at 9.9% apr.

So, I waited two hours, considered that my cell phone was hacked & being Pranked by someone evil. Called Navy, asked for confirmation, when it will list on their site, when I should receive overnighted card?

Still in SHOCK. so I had to pull of this thread, and update, cause I hate "Waiting, and Waiting!"

Well, that is what I ended up doing, but the only change to my strategy was to begin with Pen Fed, which I wasn't even previously aware of. On ocassion they will offer a "secured" card, and I was willing to use that as my fallback solution if denied. But I was denied, reconed, and approved.

Amongst all of the Surprises I have experienced, I was originally resigned to only receiving "secured" cards. Obviously that hasn't happened, but I was mentally and emotionally prepared.

So when will a vendor be receptive to a Ch 13 cc applicant?

Probably when the credit report is cleaned up, an existing member of an institution, at least more then the 15 minutes before CC applicaiton. Credit Unions first, as they put Members First.

My my story is exactly your story. I just received my refund check, still haven't cashed it yet. My attorney did the same thing and requested funds late, pushing me back another 30 days. I paid mine off 3/2016 and will receive a discharge at the end of July. It's in the system and all forms are ready. I also had to fill out a 525 form which cost me a couple of days as well. I live in Oregon. This may be standard practice here.

Congratz on your Progress ! ! !

The endless delays and obstacles are simply Maddening. I am not in Oregon, so I don't know how things work there. But the Discharge Order is key, and later the Final Report. Keep these documents for your personal records.

The Discharge Order only moved one of my Fico 8 Scores a couple of points, like in +2. But it does allow an opportunity to further update your Credit Reports, if you haven't already pulled them and reviewed them. Having them up to date and accurate is key.

Based upon your personal situation have you had the opportunity to put together a plan and strategy to move forward in re-establishing credit and increasing your Scores?
