Timing for deleting CH13

My CH13 was filed December 2010. Equifax deleted the record last month, about six months early. When can I expect Experian and Transunion to delete it? Would it help to request them to delete it early?

Equifax tends to hold on till the last second...but I have read about a few successes at 30 days early exclusion.

I'm surprised they deleted before ex and TU.

TU will usually remove around 6 months early. EX is not fun to play with

Congrats on having it deleted from EQ already. Did they surprise you with an early deletion or did you initiate the request? You can ask TU for early deletion now. Exp is 2-3 months for EE.

Do you have an account on Credit Karma? They have a "direct dispute" for TU, and when you use that it even has a reason for the dispute from a drop down menu for "Too old to report" (or something like that). I got TU to early exclude all accounts included in my 2010 BK7. I disputed directly with EX and they removed all but my non-reaffirmed mortgage which they are keeping until Sept, exactly 7 years.

DaveInAZ, I opened a Credit Karma account as you suggested, but there isn't a reason like "Too old to report" in the drop down menu, and then it sends me to the TU site, which requires a mail in form. Separately, I've been using Experian's CreditCheckTotal. Is Credit Karma just as good?

TU has an online dispute process that you should be able to use.

This one:

I didn't have to mail anything to anyone, disputed through Credit Karma Direct Dispute and that was it. CK direct dispute works for Transunion & Equifax, for Experian you have dispute directly with them.

For other reasons like this, that don't fit their menu of selections, a form is required to be mailed in.

I don't know why you aren't getting that option, it's the same thing I did - requesting early removal of derogatory information that's due to fall off in a few months. You might go to transunion.com and see if they'll let you dispute online, this shouldn't require a mailed form.

Dave are you testing it on a Public Record? I wonder if the system only offers particular reasons for the type of TL? Just thinking out loud

To OP,

I am surprised too! I am waiting to be in the clear of my BK 13 to fall off all reports. Its the only negative I have on all 3 reports. From My understanding. TU is 6 mos, EXP is 3 mos, and EQ at 1 mon. I am looking at deletions in Sept, Dec and Feb. But I will definitely ask at the 6 mos mark with EQ.

Here's an update on the deletions. Following the EQ deletion, TU deleted it about five months early. I mailed (no online option that I could find) a letter requesting early deletion to TU, but have no idea if that was a factor in the early deletion. I submitted an online request for early deletion to EX, but haven't received a response. The EX rep said it'll automatically delete three months early.

I think I am confused by your question.. A Chap 13 would naturally fall off after 7 years. You can ask for an early exclusion at any time you want. I would probably wait until you are at the least discharged.

I'm referring to public or court records, which is the source of bankruptcy filings reported to the Bureaus. I'd like to know if it'll remain a public record and, if so, if it can be deleted.
