topic BK7 Discharged on 11/27 - Haven't heard from DCU re: picking up car in Bankruptcy

I filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy on 8/22/18, had my meeting on 9/27, and was discharged on 11/27. My reports updated today. Before I filed, I had around a 620 FICO across all 3 bureaus. As of today, my TU is 576 and EXP is 586. My EQ from 10/26 is 609. I am happy with that because I have a lot of room to grow once I start getting on the 700-in-24-months plan. As of right now, Capital One's pre-qualification site has no offers.

I do need some advice. I did not reaffirm my mortgage and car. I am still paying my mortgage and I plan on staying here. My car note has not been paid since I filed. I have not heard from DCU, but I am beginning to work with dealerships to get a replacement vehicle. I have read on here how DCU takes their time reclaiming vehicles, so I am making the most of everyday to try to pull my scores up, save money, and I even got an additional job part time to supplement my income.

Thank you to all of the contributors here on this site.

I'm not sure if this speaks to the question you have in mind, however:

I'd keep driving the car until they pick it up. Maybe you'll be able to schedule DCU's repo, or maybe not. Be prepared for the vehicle to just disappear one day -- so don't leave valuables in it. But do ensure you have valid registration and insurance if you're driving it.

And if you part ways with the vehicle, ensure your liability is removed by filing out the appropriate DMV paperwork. You wouldn't want to be liable for someone else causing an accident because you remained on the title and registration.
