No and you need to dispute these accounts that they were included in your BK with the original date of the bk

I am currently cleaning up my credit report and I have a question for you fine folks on myfico. I filed CH. 13 Bk in october 2005 and was discharged in may on 2010. my most current copy of my credit report shows that two of my creditors that were ibcluded in my BK are now finding ways to "Update" my credit report with stupid things like account number changes. this is now putting my removal date 5 years from the update. My question is can these Big companys keep updating my credit report so that it will stay on there longer than 7 years from the original filing date of my Ch. 13 BK? Thanks to all who reply.

"Accounts will report approximately ten years after the last activity - some shorter and some much longer. The baddies i.e. 30 days late will report for 7 years, and then the baddie - but not the account - will age off.

My question is can these Big companys keep updating my credit report so that it will stay on there longer than 7 years from the original filing date of my Ch. 13 BK? The 7 years is how long the BK itself will report - not for the accounts IIB or for any delinquencies on those accounts.

Hope that's somewhat helpful!"

--------------------------------------

Hello,

I'd like to ask a question about the above. The Chapter 13 drops off 7 years from the filing date. The IIB accounts appear separately on your reports, but the negative entries for those accounts drop off seven years after the last activity (closed, charged off etc.) but the account stays on the report for an unknown amount of time. Is that about right?

Once the 7 years runs and the bankruptcy and the "baddies" fall off, and assuming that positive steps have been taken to rebuild credit in the two years after the bankruptcy discharges, will those accounts remaining on the report have a big negative impact on your score?

Thanks for any clarification!
