Just Filed for Chapter 7 (Questions)

Hi everyone,

I offically filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy yesterday with a MOC date of July 29th. How long does it take for the credit cards to know I filed, and what should I look out for on my credit reports from now until discharge. Also about the MOC, I'm super nervous about this and the questions they will ask, if anyone has advice about it I would love to hear.

You (or your attorney) has to notify them by mail.

There is a ton of info on this forum you can review.

I would not worry about CRs until after discharge.

If you are under the means test and have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about.

It almost instantly done. BK Lawyers and the courts use program software and its done in a flash. Like Shoot4800 said. Wait up to 30 days for everything to update on your CR's. The MOC takes less time than ordering a fast food drive thru order. 5 minutes and its done. You walk out and then the wait for the DC. Good Luck!

I just attended my MOC today. It is fast and easy . The trustee will ask you yes or no questions, if there’s an error or clarification needed he/she will point it out .

Thank you everyone! I feel much more confident for my 341 meeting. I will continue review and learn new information from this forum. Once its time for me to start my rebuild journey I will be sure to visit these forums for advice.

Yes please get with us before you make any moves. If you look below in my siggy. I went 10 and O when getting cards. No denials. I researched here and asked questions before I made any moves. And it worked! I like to say it takes longer to get a big mac at mickey d's than the meeting of creditors.

I have a question if anyone knows what this means, On the pacer under the parties section it lists: the trustee and synchrony bank/ PRA receiveables. Does this mean that synchrony bank is showing up as a creditor at my 341 meeting? Also included in the pacer is a document stating PRA receivables management, an authorized agent for synchrony bank requests pursuant to rules 2002 and 9007 of the federal rules of bankruptcy procedure that all notices given or required be given and all papers served or required to be served in this case be given and served electronically or otherwise to Synchrony Bank c/o PRA Receivables Management, LLC. Does anyone know what this means? I'm freaked out now.

Too much legal stuff for this dude, Just call and ask your lawyer. Probably nothing. Never seen a poster say Sync showed up at their MOC.

PRA=Porfolio Recovery Associates.....debt collector. Did you have any Synch accounts that went to collection? I wouldn't worry about it, the judge rarely...I mean rarely will allow a creditor to ask to be taken out of the BK.

Thats probably what it is. In my MOC, I was last, and had to sit and see all the other folks go before me, and one person had two creditors show up, and the judge said...nope! LOL

Sadly yes, My paypal mastercard went into collections recently. Thanks everyone for your help, I will update once my MOC is over and let this forum know how it went. I also noticed my bankruptcy is reporting to all 3 credit bureaus, so far 2 account have closed.

My scores are:

Equifax : 520

Transunion : 547

Experian : 495

One question for anyone that can help, I have 3 charge accounts that were not included in the bankruptcy because I didnt owe them anything, What is the chances of them remaining open after discharge so maybe that will help my rebuilding process? They are Kohl's, Macy's, and Bloomingdales.

My Kohls survived my CH.7 thus far.....DC was last month.

Many on the forum advise to close all accounts that have a $0 balance. I left my Kohls open and it was not closed, even though I burned CapOne for over $30k.

Synchrony was listed as a 'filer' on my BK case also. I was not in collections. They did not show up at the 341 meeting....actually none of the 30+ creditors that were IIB showed up.

I was DC'ed last month....no mention of synchrony by the trustee/court/or my attny and didn't affect the DC as far as i can tell.

SYNCH was listed as a 'party' and a 'filer' on my PACER page.

I think you're worrying for no reason. Relax and just ask your attny about it.

PRA as another pointed out is Portfolio Recovery. I had two request for notice filed in my case (shown on my docket) by PRA for Synchrony and someone else for State Farm. They were also then listed as a party to my case, I assume since they filed something.

They're just requesting that anything related to your case go to them since they are the collections agency assigned.

I had my 341 just today, no creditors including the two parties listed, showed. I even had a pending lawsuit from an attorney just a few blocks from the Federal Court House where I was, no show.

341 meeting is easy, even though I had read tons on here about it and how it was no big deal, I was pretty worried going in. But man, it really was no big deal, I only paid for 1 hour in the parking garage. In and out.

Thank you for this feedback! I feel much better waiting for my 341 now. I thought the creditor was trying to object the case lol
