@Anonymous wrote:

CEO of DocketBird here. I just wanted to give eveyone a quick update: DocketBird has implemented a quick and painless way to remove cases. Now you can remove your case in about two minutes. To do so, just find the docket sheet of your case, and click "Request Removal" at the bottom of the page for instructions. To be clear, this is 100% free.

We've always enabled people to remove their cases for free, by mailing in a form to verify their relationship to the case and to prevent hacking. But, we heard from a number of people that this process was too time-consuming and frustrating. I hope that this new system addresses those concerns.

I did this new procedure the day it was posted. As of today if I do a Google search of my name, DocketBird is the first thing that comes up. Looks like paying is still the only way to "expedite" removal.

I did a search and did not find anything here. Has anyone ever heard of DocketBird? I'm close to getting my discharge after filling for ch7.

I've been cleaning up what comes up when searching my name on Google. Basically just name, address, phone number. But about 5 pages deep I found this site called Docketbird. Evidently they pull documents from federal cases and sell them for 4 bucks a pop. I realize that a simple backround check will reveal the bankrupcty. And anyone can pay any one of the many sites for that. But I was surprised (or maybe not) to see it listed in a Google search for my name as opposed to only being revealed behind a paywall of some sort. They do offer to remove the documents from their site. They want $79 to do it. Has anyone done this and do they actually follow through and remove them which would inturn get rid of the Google search result? In theory their reasoning for wanting money to remove the documents makes sense sadly. They lose money without the documents.

Oh yeah I know the data is NOT FROM Google. And I know the data shown is public data. Docketbird allows Google to crawl their site so that the public information shows up in Google Search. That's what I am getting at. It's not from Google but it shows up in Google Search. And yes I know it's public data. BUT in my mind it's pretty sleazy for Docketbird to do this. Basically if the data is from Pacer Docketbird is is opening the doors to Pacer. Pacer keeps the data private unless you activily go in and do a search. Other sites that specifically show public court data like Docketbird don't let Google crawl their sites. I only say that because Docketbird was the only one that showed up in my search results. Sites like MyLife though that give more info then just public court documents, and that allow Google to crawl their site (So it shows up in Google search), actually will for free delete your data from their site when asked. I've done it and it's happened. I've gotten my data deleted from a variety of sites for free.

Again I know that a bankruptcy is public. So anyone can do a search BUT not everyone wants the world to know about it. Out of site out of mind. Docketbird is just relying on the fact that people will pay to have their data hidden/deleted. The bankruptcy doesn't define me so I do not need everyone to know about it.

Anyway my question was do they actually delete it? But sounds like you didn't do it. But thanks.

Welcome to the forum. This has been on here for 5 days and no one has answered your question. Many data mining sites buy from the courts and many other areas to put on their websites. So they are trying to recoup what they bought. Your question may be answered by a phone call. Looks like no one here has dealt with this Docketbird site. If you want it off the site. Pay it and move on. Sucks but privavcy these days online is gone. Your smart phone puts more info on you out there than 1 website. Good Luck!

Hi, I'm the founder and CEO of DocketBird. I wanted to answer your question and give a bit of background about what we do. The bottom line is this: we do not charge people to remove their cases from DocketBird.

DocketBird has over ten million cases and documents that we make freely available to the public. The overwhelming reaction that we've received from the public is positive -- we have an enormous number of documents and cases that aren't available for free anywhere else.

But, as you can imagine, some companies and individuals don't like having cases available online that pertain to them. This is especially true if a company has been successfully sued, or if an individual has declared bankruptcy or been convicted of a federal crime.

We've spent a lot of time thinking about this. We want to fulfill our mission of making information freely available, and yet we also want to respect the fact that people want certain information to remain private.

So here's our policy: a party to a case can request us to remove their case at no charge by filling out a form that's available on our website and mailing it to us. We review the form to ensure that the requestor really is a party to the case. If they are, we'll remove the case, at no charge.

Despite having this policy, we sometimes hear from angry people who want their cases removed immediately, without having to fill out a form. We also get angry emails and phone calls from people who want us, in addition to removing their case, to proactively send an expedited removal request to Google, to ensure that the old version of the page disappears from Google immediately. If people really feel like they need that service, we do charge a fee for it.

Overall, dealing with all of this has been an enormous distraction from our core business, which is servicing law firms. In fact, we are losing money dealing with removal requests, as we have to pay someone to process the removals. The optional fee for expedited deindexing requests to Google has helped to recoup costs, but even what that is considered, this is not how DocketBird makes money.

I hope you find this helpful.

Just clarifying...if Pacer already provides this "public" case info for all to search and access-why are you putting on your site to show up in searches? This is just a ploy to make money off what Pacer is already providing. This is ridiculous to charge people for removal per not wanting their job, businesses, nonprofits, and/or prospective employers seeing bk info as soon as name is googled...Pacer already does what docketbird claims to be doing...

No, that is not true. We do not require a drivers license or passport to remove a case. We merely require some form of identification, to prove that you are a party to the case. That could be a business card, a utility bill, or really anything else that shows you are the person you claim to be.

The form says Driver's License or another official ID. Check your form. Why are you trying to extract $$ from people for information that you put up knowingly to profit from destroying their reputation?
There is a free option. 6-8 weeks to process with no guarantee that you will take down what you put up in the first place?
We know what is going on. No one asked you to display our info. All people affected need to step up and ensure that you are accountable. You will not get away with the damage and pain you are causing.
There is a process by which an individual can approach a court to obtain bankruptcy information, but advertising that information over the web is categorically an abuse of information.

Hello, I went through the same thing as you a week ago. I googled my name, and this came up. I immediately contacted Docketbird to pay to have my case removed, and it was done quickly. I submitted a remove outdated content request via google to delete the cache results with my name and information. As of today, it's no longer on google or their site. I also realized that this is just google and not the world wide web. So I did a yahoo search and bing.com which I rarely use, but I wanted to see what would show up and their more sites like docketbird but worse who will not remove it. So it's frustrating but will they remove it if you pay immediately yes.

Hi There We Have A Similar Experience As You Have Had. On 08/29/19 During A Random Google Search Of My Spouses Name The Second Top Result Was Her Name And My Name Showing We Had A Bankruptcy Case Filed On The DocketBird Website With The Link To View And I Was Shocked To Find Such Detailed Information So Easily And Publically Accessible For Free. We Were Also Quite Frankly A
Not Happy With This Kind Of Disclosure Popping Up On The Web. I Realize That Court Case Documents Are A Part Of The Public Record However For This Information To Appear As It Does And Allows Access Then To A Full Record Is Not In My Opinion Appropriate And I Agree That This Kind Of Use Of Personal And Court Case Information Should Remain Behind A Firewall Or Within The Court Files And Accessible Legal Doc Websites. Anyway Yes We Did Pay The Expedited Fee of $69 For Removal As Stated From Their Website Immediately And From Google Search Results Within 1-5 Business Days. Once The Payment Was Made What Happened Was Immediately The Google Docketbird Result Link Redirects To DocketBird And A Page That Says "This Page Not Found" Followed By "You May Search For It HERE"
At First It Seemed They Had Immediately Removed Our Names And Bankruptcy Case Information From Their Website And Thought Great Its Gone And We Will Continue To Watch For When And If The Google Search Result Is Removed. So We Went Today 08/29/2019 Repeated The Name Search And Yes The DocketBird Google Search Result Was Still There And Clicking It Resulted In The Same No Longer Found Page. However What I Discovered Was No The Court Case Is Not Removed From Their Website Completely At All. I Decided To Go Ahead And Click The "Search For It Here" Button And It Takes You Deeper Within The Docket Bird Website Where They Show Categories Of The Court For Example Civil, Criminal And Yep Bankruptcy. So I Clicked Bankruptcy And What Comes Up Is A Page To Find A Court Then What Year (2019 In Our Case) And Clicking That Took Me To A List Of Bankruptcy Cases In Order Of Their Filing And Case Numbers. I Went Through Each Line On The List Which Were About 15 Or So And On Line 10 Of Those Cases Listed We Found Our Name And Bankruptcy Court Case Number Listed Among The Others In Alphabetical Order. I Wasnt Happy As We Had Paid To Have It Removed From Their Website As They Claimed Or Alluded To. When I Clicked Our Case There The Link Simply Loops Back To The Same "Page Not Found Search Here" So For $69 Dollars Yes They Dont Make The Details Of The Case Available On Their Website Any Longer However We Are Still Named And Shown To Have Filed The Bankruptcy And Have A Court Case Open. My Spouse And I Too For That Matter Dont Feel This Kind Of Marketing Of A Service Like This Is Right Since The Money Is Made Is Not Exactly Honest Though Certainly Legal Or They Wouldnt Be Able To Do It In This Manner. You See Our Concern Is For The Information Associated With Our Names On Top Of The Google Results And Bold Face DocketBird Bankruptcy Case Found Kind Of Thing On The Web Is Not Ok And Its Our Business Whether We Want Others Especially Her Mother Or Other Perhaps Bounderless People To Find Sonething Of This Nature And Run With It Creating Problems. Life Is Hard Enough Sometimes. But Regardless If You Chose To Pay Then This Is Exactly How They At DocketBird Have Created In My View A Very Edgy Marketing Scam With Great Potential Of Harm To People Playing On The Shock And Awe Of It All And Pay For Removal Only To Get The Looped Link Page As If Its Removed From Their Website But It Is Still Obvious By Name And Category For All The World Wide Web To See That Yes You Have A Certain Case Filed And Open With Or Without Details Its Up To Person To Decide. However I Am Going To Write To Them And Express My Dissatisfaction With Their Immediate Appearance Of Removal When All The While In My View Its Just A Cleaver Scam To Get Money From People Who Value Their Right To Privacy And Confidentiality To Avoid Exploitaion By Others But I Guess So Long As DocketBird Does It For You Then It Must Be Ok. Being Sarcastic There. Sorry For The Rant But It Really Upset Us And It Is What It Is. Good luck With Your Clean Up Efforts. Carry On. I'll Follow Up Here If You Reply With The Google Search Removal Promise They Made For That Expedited $69 Next Time. Thanks Hope This Helped
