Ch13 - last payment made

I had a sidebar convo going with @FireMedic1 about this -

Feb 2022 marked my 60 months, I had an outstanding balance of $4,727.50. I reached out to my attorney to see if I could pay it off without any ramifications and he responded with "wait until March just so we're past 60 months".

I did have to fill out an affadavit attesting to where the funds came from (savings over the course of my chapter 13 plan...this is the verbiage I used) and have it notarized. I even provided the attorney a screenshot of my bank account balance as proof, in case the trustee wants to question where it came from.

I scheduled that last payment this morning. It feels like a huge sigh of relief right now.

Huge congrats on making that final payment ! Hopefully you'll be in a much better place financially now as your FICOs keep moving upwards

Congrats! Successfully completing a Chapter 13 is quite the achievment and not for the faint of heart

Made our last payment 12 years ago. In hindsight, I am kinda greatful for the opportunity. Living within your means and great financial discipline over 60 months is rough, but a lesson I have never forgotten.

These days my DH and I have 2 vehicles (2017 car and 2018 truck), 2 Harley's (a 2018 and a 2020), all are paid for. No loans, no credit card debt, and only a mortage payment every month. He just retired this year at 62. Life is good!

Enjoy, but don't ever forget the lessons you have learned through the process!
