Current Ch 13 - Secured Card Recommendations

We are in a current Ch 13, filled May 2025. We have written approval to get around a $500 secured card after 90 days of filling which is quickly approaching. Any good recommendations? FYI - we burned Cap One, Discover, BOA, and Wells Fargo in the BK so looking to avoid them.

Heard good things about Navy Federal (we are eligible for membership) and US Bank. We plan to buy a home within 2 years and most likely go USDA route, which US Bank does USDA loans so that is intriguing. Open to others, but would prefer to avoid any predatary banks.

No experience from a bankruptcy perspective. But we've got two, coming up on a third, that started building credit with Navy cards. Most recently, P4 got a 80% CLI after 3-4 months with her secured card with them. Hoping that will graduate for her in the next couple months for a 2x CLI. I'd say if Navy is an option, at least get your foot in the door with them membership-wise, even if you get your initial card elsewhere. They've been good for our family.

My Ch 7 BK discharged last March 2024. I had a secured NFCU card for $1500 that graduated to unsecured $2000 six months later (now $6000). I now have their AMEX ($13500) and Flagship ($5000) cards also. I put all my direct deposits there, got a CD, and had a car loan with them and just was approved for a new car so traded in. NFCU has been great.

I would definitely go for Navy as that card will graduate. US Bank is a great option as well, but will not graudate until you're out of 13.

agree with the above, NFCU will graduate so long as you don't have any issues, USB will give you a card (and they are great cards) but they're very strict on graduation

Does anyone know if NavyFed approves their cashrewards secured card prior to ch13 discharge or post ch13 only?

my secured card graduated to CashRewards 15 months before discharge in my 13
