BK Friendly Credit Union other than NFCU or PenFed

I did quite a bit of searching but mostly came up with posts that were a few years old and want to get some more current info.

I'm 17 months post CH7. Other than my Capital One cards, I have a bunch of sub prime cards, personal loans and a just bought a brand new car @ 9.67% (payment less than I was paying on one that was 14 years old with issues) financed through GMAC.

The plan is to establish a relationship with a BK friendly credit union other than PenFed or NFCU. I figure I'll open checking/savings now, garden until I hit two years post BK in April, get my utilization in check, then hopefully get a good limit credit card and close half of my current ones that have fees. I'd also be interested in a personal loan and refinancing the new car.

Is DCU a good bet still? I see they're merging with First Tech and am wondering if that changes anything.

Also would it be advantageous to run all of my money/bills through the new CU checking/savings? If it doesn't matter I'd probably leave all of my auto pays (and direct deposit to cover them) on my BOA checking and split off a small part of the new CU deposits to those accounts for other things.

Open to other suggested CUs as well. I live in FL.

BECU is BK7 friendly. I don't know just how far past you need to be from your discharge (I was just over 3 years post discharge when I cold app'd) and I was approved for $16K which was (and still is) my highest CL from any bank/CU except for NFCU. All I did was open the required savings account as I do all my main banking with a local CU.

I've read that they are indeed great!

I thought that I wouldn't have a way in since I have no affiliation with Washington state, but went to their website and did some digging. Apparently I just need to become a member of one of their affliate organizations and it looks like I can get in that way.

Alliant CU is Ch 7 friendly. I joined 2mo. ago with no problem.

I applied and got approved at WECU credit card for 10k only 5 months from discharge with scores in the 660s to 670s with 4% credit utilization from my other cards I have.

There geographically area is wa state.

Hey! May I please ask How long did you wait after discharge to apply with Alliant CU?
I came across an older thread and they said Alliant has like a 2-3 year timeframe.

I discharged 3/24/26 and it's definitely been really difficult to find a credit union that will approve me. I bank with DCU but they have a strict policy.
