Barclay's business Aviator In Process - More to come - Approved? We shall see

So since I met spend on my Citi AA card other day for 60k and already have the red aviator the next logical thing other then Citi Business was to try for Barclay's business.. I have read alot of mixed things about that card on FT/Red about denials and review etc... I applied anyways as sole prop vs. llc.. Went into review.. Figured I would nip it in the butt prior to work week to see if I could get an approval out of them. Lady answered a few hours after I did the application and asked if I could help them out on the weekend vs. weekday to speed up this little process she said sure.. Asked all the basics ssn, etc..

She then went into a few questions about income and my business income and kept getting confused and said no i make x at my full-time job and y at my consulting gig that has been dormant for awhile but plan on doing x,y,z this year although still trivial amt compared to my real salary of my bread and butter. Anyways some business questions in general but as a software and consulting person she probably didn't or couldn't get to specific due to lack of knowledge lol.. Anyways she said one sec let me look over your credit.. Came back after a few minutes and had a few questions regarding credit asked why I had applied for 6-7 cards in last 6 months(although it has been more ... I was thinking that is all??) . Anyways explained I closed on my house about 3 months ago and was waiting to open some cards and close some up she complimented me more on my credit and how i utilize it then she asked I see a personal loan from X lender and explained why that was there and then she said I am going to recommend you for a 5k CL and an approval. The other dept. that needs to finalize it won't be here till tomorrow would you like their number.. I said nah unless I need to speak to them and she said nah you don't or shouldn't need to if they have any additional questions they will call you tomorrow otherwise you are good to go..

So assuming other department signs off tomorrow that was an easy 50k miles and a hidden TL .. I will update when I get the final approval or possibly denial if something goes sour, but I think I went through the grilling of new accounts and basics of my business etc.. We shall see, just another DP for people considering card. I didn't want to go LLC route as heard it is alot more difficult.. I was debating on calling in as well, but opted to just to push it along as had nothing to lose.. Now if they were Chase I certainly wouldn't of made that call lol.

Thanks.. I think I am golden with Barclay's as they are a tame animal overall for me although as you know they can go Bipolar on anyone in a flick of a finger I can care less if I have the card for 1 month as doesn't report to personal, just want those miles lol ..

Now my Chase Marriott Business application has been stuck in 30 day message by phone system since last wednesday that has me a bit stumped and I wont be calling in for that one as I rather take a grilling from Barclays UW's anyday vs. Chase that seem to last 30 mins to an hour of questions.. No thank you

Speak of the devil... Approval email just came in.. Not sure of APR although think CL is 5k from previous conversation? Althoug APR certainly doesnt matter

@creditcuriosity I applied for this the other day and saw an immediate HP on TU. I received the 7-10 review message. The next morning as I was drinking coffee, I got an alert from EX that they blocked an inquiry. I definitely wasn’t expecting another pull.

I’m tempted to call in because my last recon call with Barclays regarding my Red Aviator was super easy. However, the second pull made me slightly nervous. I wonder if it’s Barclays doing a deeper look because of my recent new account activity.

To wait for the letter (denial or verification) or call is the question...not sure where I’ll land on the answer.

Just saw this.. Suprised they tried to pull experian as well although Barclay's does do double pulls.. Any outcome yet on this?

I got the denial letter today. Main denial reasons: Too many recent inquiries, too many new accounts.

Those reasons are valid, though I’m surprised it didn’t come back with a “We need you to remove the credit freeze message.” This makes me think Barclays doesn’t really want to give me the card and their attempted EX pull was to get a deeper look at all of the recent activity.

I think I’ll let things settle with my personal profile and give it another go in October. I have two personal Barclays cards that I seldom use (EZ Pass and Netflix subscriptions) but I don’t want to risk AA on them with a recon call.

Interestingly, I applied for a US Bank Business Edge Cash Rewards card with an EQ pull the same day. That was approved today. My expectations were reversed. I expected a denial from US Bank and an instant approval from Barclays.

🤷‍♂️ That’s how it goes in this credit game.

Sorry to hijack this thread but figure since it's somewhat related to the card figure I'd ask than make a new post.

I just now only noticed how easy the SUB for the card is (why can't all SUBs be like this?!) so my question is since the AA miles being awarded are linked to the AAdvantage account if for whatever reason Barclays decides sometime after awarding the SUB to cancel the biz card/account they don't have any recourse for clawing back the bonus correct?

Barclays from second hand reporting on here is too twitchy for my tastes but the SUB for the biz AA card is too good to pass up. I don't plan to use the card much exept to show occasional activity til the next AF is due before cancelling the card. I just want to know if for any reason they randomly decide to close the card can they get back a bonus they already awarded is all I'm asking. I'm strictly apping this card for churning purposes I have no long term use for it.

Same. That’s a solid question that I’d also like to know the answer to. The points automatically get transferred to AA but but you’re able to actively see point accumulation via Barclays and on your statement.

I’m going to do some external research and hope to find an answer soon.

Considering the SUB is supposedly for a limited time expiring on July 29th according to Doctor of Credit I'm gonna go ahead and bite the bullet on apping for it for me and GF; also with people reporting having some issues just trying to app for the card makes me want to get the ball rolling on it. I doubt they would go as far as trying to clawback a SUB as long as I show some occasional use on the card. Hoping worse case scenario if it comes up is that all it costs us in the end is a TU HP.
