approved for $5,000 SL and the current SUB

this is my first business card

Finally decided to try for business credit card -

DPs

-Applied online.

-brand new entity, have an 11 year old part time IC business - will be putting a lot more projects and time into 2019 so created a new S Corp

-Received message that they needed time to process the application and would get back to me in 7-10 days. It didn't look good.

received email right away from "alerts"

"

Hi, _______. Thank you for your interest in the CitiBusiness® / AAdvantage® Platinum Select® Card account. We're reviewing your application submitted on 11/30/2018 and will get back to you within 7-10 days.

For the most up-to-date information on your application, you can check the status online.

It included an Application ID and the ability to check status online

-personal note - I tend to do things that have 'been on my mind to-do-list" late at night if I can't sleep. Because of my back I have a special mat on the ground near the family TV that I sleep in most nights. Wife was watching TV really late and I couldn't stay asleep so I got up and did some busy work, which included planning some final disputes on my personal credit report and prepping more materials for new business plan. So at approximately 2am I said screw it and submitted the app. ...I realize I've done this with personal credit apps too, likely not a good habit

-I have a personal banking relationship with Citi. Not very old. They had a promo a few months ago to open a relationship(checking/savings combo) and park $15k of new money for something like 5 months for a $400 taxable bonus and I took the bait. Keeping it all in savings with a few bucks in checking and in the past 45 days have set up a small portion of direct deposit into savings to create activity, transfer a little into checking, and make some small payments to major credit cards and my son's grade school tuition so there would be activity JUST in case that mattered for future credit card consideration.

-got a call on my primary contact(cell) NOT the business # at 11:01am today. Agent was calling to verify my identity and explained this was because I have a fraud alert on my credit file. I acknowledged, and actually asked him to repeat, it was a little hard to hear him, made small talk since the call came from San Antonio and asked him about Spurs but he indicated he was from Kentucky call center.

They actually didn't really ask me much to verify, seriously was the most lax 'fraud prevention' call I've received.

-in June I initiated a fraud alert through Experian because there a ton of inquiries made by someone who got my personal as I have posted in other places (some idiot tried to get a lot of things with my sub par credit). The initial fraud alert was supposed to last 90 days and be communicated to both TU and EQ for the same preventation and duration.

-FA did fall off TU, not sure about EQ but up until today I thought it had. However for some reason(maybe it's obvious and I missed a detail) the FA alert language changed on EX to say it stays on for a period of 1 year...... kinda lame that they would change the timeframe without my consent but I like the security and I've been having better luck with applications since I've put the fraud alert(could just be a coincidence that it was enforced at the same time I am making a stronger effort to create positive credit history)

-but this makes me wonder, this approval must have been totally based on personal credit history.....or maybe mix? my personal credit is not great. I admit to poor payment history from December 2013 - Jan 2015. different delinquencies on different accounts at different times, it was a real mess for about a year unfortunately. But what I'm saying is Citi indicated they saw a fraud alert - that means they MUST have looked at either my Experian or possibly Equifax credit report.

-25 month inquiry history - 9 inquiries EX, 6 TU, 3 EQ

-knock on wood, so far have not seen inquiry on EX YET, ironically as soon as the agent told me I was approved I got a Wallet Hub notification of an inquiry but have not seen an inquiry listed.

Congrats on your approval. The approval was undoubtedly based on your personal credit as are almost all small business credit cards.
