All,

Sorry if this has been asked. I'm self-employed and I just recently got my D-U-N-S # from D&B for my company. Since my company is only about 1.5 years old, I did this to establish business credit so it won't be a problem for me down the road. Along with this D-U-N-S #, I have a business checking account and a business credit card from American Express(Amex Business Cash). Has anyone else used their services? If so, can you just briefly tell me what your experience has been with them. Thank you in advance.

If you read through the pinned thread you'll see that you won't need to pay a dime to DNB to establish a record with them.

Hello Metro. I opted for the free version. Just seeing if anyone out there has dealt with them. I'm just looking for ways to build my business credit.

Their paid services (particularly sales and marketing) are pretty much useless, and better services are usually available for substantially lower rates. When I took over my current position, I was a bit shocked at what we had been paying for. But as many creditors will look there and a DUNS number is required if you are doing any type of work that is contracted to the government, D&B can be essential. I would definitely suggest just looking for ways to build credit, particularly with vendors who may report the status of your relationship and with lenders who report to the various business credit reporting agencies. As with FICO, it's not necessary to purchase products and services in order to have good D&B reports.

Like others have said, they are useless for building any type of credit. You are better off building your own business credit with legit creditors vs duns and bradsteal.

They ARE useless. Goodness. They seem more interested in collecting $ than actually reporting like CRA's.
