(Most business credit cards do not, but some do. So I need a definite answer.)

The reason for this question is that, like most businesses, I don't want my business spending to affect my usage ratio on my personal credit score. This would damage my personal credit. (As business usage is much higher than personal usage.)

I called NFCU and they told me that my business credit card would definitely not be reported to my personal credit. (With the exception of course of the initial hard credit pull to set up the account.) I asked the same question on their message center, and they told me they definitely do report monthly business credit card data to your personal credit report. So I got two contradictory answers from NFCU.

Does anybody out there have direct experience with this? Does anyone have a NFCU business credit card who could tell me whether it shows up on their personal credit report? (Other than the initial hard credit pull which of course definitely does.)

You answer would so much be appreciated!

I have a Navy business credit card.

No it does not report to personal credit.

To answer a question you didn't ask: I would NOT recommend getting involved with them. The customer service in their business department is nothing like the customer service in their consumer banking department. Their applications are lengthy and difficult, their customer service is brittle, they are obsessed with excessive paperwork.

My reply is a little bit long but I thought that I would post my experience with the Navy Federal business side! I applied for the business credit card a couple of months ago and never heard anything for almost a month about the application. So I thought I would make a phone call and make sure they got everything they needed. I had uploaded several files that are needed for any business applications. The guy in the business department was short on the phone and said they had not had a chance to look at it yet and that it would be at least a few weeks longer before I heard anything. I said okay and thanked him. I don’t know what I could have said on that phone call… but 4 minutes after I got off the phone I had a denial in my email inbox.

I have a pretty good business credit profile (I even have the FNBO Evergreen business card with a $15K credit limit that has been reporting regularly, along with several other business cards) and my personal scores when I applied were between 739 and 751. I am probably showing a total of $4k in debt on the business credit bureaus but have very decent limits. I have a Flagship personal card with a $17,300 (I don’t know how they came up with that number but that is the initial assigned credit limit, smh) credit limit along with personal checking/savings and business checking/savings, so I was surprised that they could not even offer me a lower limit business credit card.

I received a credit denial later in the snail mail that had a ladies name in the signature area with her phone number in case I had any questions on the business lending side. I have left her 5 voicemails, one every week and she is still yet to call me back.

I would’ve never applied if I didn’t think there was a good chance to get at least an entry-level card limit. I thought maybe I’d get my foot in the door on the biz side and eventually it would pay off but now I am putting my business relationships in a different institution and have taken my Navy business checking from $20,000+ down to $3000 this last month. I’m sure there are some people that have had a good experience but man, I don’t know how. They are nothing like they are on the personal side, just saying from my own experience.

NFCU's Business division resides in an Alt Universe compared to their consumer division. I swear it's only one overworked dude that they keep in the basement.

It's as if they tolerate Business accounts only because some members forced them to offer the products.

Wow! that is so helpful. It never occured to me that the biz dept would be so fundamentally different from the personal department re how they process applications. I am so grateful for your reply!

While we're on the subject... What business credit cards would you recommend? I don't care so much about introductory APRs. What I am looking for is cards that offer a generous credit limit to credit worthy customers that don't report to personal credit bureaus. My personal credit score is around 750.

Thanks again. You really helped me out.
