Amex Marriott Bonvoy Business New Benefits

Just got an email from Marriott. Looks like they made some (positive) changes on the card with nothing taken away.

Redeem/purchase up to 15k points to use free night certificates on properties up to 50k (this was already announced with recent Bonvoy changes).
Complimentary Gold Elite status (instead of Silver; hope that doesn't mean Brilliant will start getting automatic Platinum).
7% discount off standard rates for standard guest rooms (must book directly).
Earn 4x at restaurants worldwide (was US only).

Strange on Marriott website click the Amex business icon " your business card has more benefits" and it takes me to Chase Bonvoy business plus visa site?? Is it changing issuers??

One of the "updates" I've run into is that whenever I attempt to do a search with points it shows the new Business Card Discount rate on the search page and I have to click into the property to see the point redemption rates. No one else has mentioned this on any of the other forums so I assume this just affects me but wow is it annoying.

No. While you can't apply for them, there are a ton of legacy personal and business Marriott cards that are still serviced by Chase (and Ritz-Carlton too, although technically that's in the JP Morgan division with JP Morgan Reserve). For Amex, only the non-AF Marriott card (formerly Starwood Preferred Guest Card) is a legacy card still serviced.

Nice addition to this card that I have. However, I am too enconced in all the hotel point systems and not sure what my lowest hanging fruit is.

1) Hyatt. High end saving these for later.

2) IHG. New SUB on that one, whenever the card comes in. Mix of tiers with their products.

3) Marriott. Ocassionally using it at high end properties. Some of their properties trend lower but never the bottom.

4) Choice. Doing this through Citi which can also be used for flights.

I think what I might do is run down my Citi points buying Choice hotels down to $50,000. That way I have enough TY points in the bank for two tickets to Puerto Rico if required. Then maybe skim off Holiday Inn's through IHG. Hold the others back for higher value vacations.

Just kidding. That errant dollar sign typo always amuses me, like the commonly discussed $100k bonus on Amex Platinum for a few thousand bucks of spend.
