Approval for Chase Ink Business Cash

So when I opened my business account with Chase back in 2022 the banker showed I had pre approval for all business/personal account. At that particular time I didn't have a need for either. But, as of recently I was ready to research a business card. And today I went into my branch and spoke with my banker and again she advised that I again was showing pre approval for all business/personal cards. So I went ahead and applied for the Ink Business Cash card.

To her dismay after getting off the phone with their CSC she said it's under review. Well that wasn't good enough for me. And I called when arriving back at my home. And there was some questions they needed to ask and verify. Upon completion the agent came back on the phone and said congratulations you're approved for 5k.

Not happy with that amount of SCL I inquired about a CLI. After entering in the information she came back with I'm sorry sir we couldn't approve you for any more credit at this time.

So in closing I guess that the credit line now shall be sufficient. I will however be checking for a CLI in the future. Is there a time frame I should adhere to in achieving said CLI? I appreciate any and all recommendations you awesome MyFICO champs have!!

My experience with them has been that I was approved for the Ink Unlimited with a $8k SL, and the Ink Cash with a $4k SL (35 days apart)... Over the course of the following 18 months they grew to where they are now (hover over cards in siggy). All by way of auto CLIs that came consistently about every 4 months.

I put heavy spend on them and PIF after the statement cut. For most people the time line for requests is typically every 6 months, but have seen some with strong profiles get them at 4 months. I'm a firm believer that if you show them good usage/spend consistently, they have no issues being generous in return. Congratulations on your approval!

congrats on the ink approval, great sub!!

inks are typically low CL cards to start, they'll need some time if you want to build their CL up, but if you do plan on heavy spend on them, they'll grow just like ^^^

Not sure it's visible for you yet...but you will see the "Credit Limit Increase" under "more services" for your account and they'll do a SP CLI if your account is deemed eligible.

@cashorcharge yeah the CLI button is there. I already asked them to reconsider me for a higher limit. It came back as denied for the time being. It will work for now. I'm in the slow season now anyways. But thanks for the intel. Have a great week.

If you click the button and your ineligible, it will state and suggest you update your income. If it allows you to proceed (in the future) then it's worth a shot when the time comes

I received a mailer for the Ink Business cash card but I am skeptical if not scared.

Last time I applied (2 years ago), I was flatly denied.

This time I get the mailer saying I am "selected" to apply.

Do Chase Business cards follow the 5/24 rule ?

@4sallypat from what I understand all Chase cards follow that rule. But, maybe some of the other experts will chime in to verify. I went into my banker and she pulled up my account and advised me I was pre approved. If that's just a mailer nothing more than marketing. If you have a relationship with Chase go inside your branch and speak to them. Good luck.

@4sallypat Yes, you have to be under 5/24 when applying. Although if approved, it won't count towards your 5/24 status

Most mailers are often third party marketing and should be taken with a grain of salt. They're sent out to people who meet minimum criteria deemed good enough to apply.

Hard to say what your chances are without more info.

@JoeRockhead thank you the tips! I have been in awe for a while of how your Chase Ink cards have grown! I think we both got our Ink Cash and Unlimited around the same time. I definitely need to put more spend on mine to get them to grow. I have been focusing on maximizing my rewards across all my other cards so much that my spend hasn't been enough to trigger an auto increase yet on my other Ink cards. My personal Chase cards have been growing though. Hopefully this year I can get some increases. Thank you again for the info!

@4sallypat the Chase Business cards do follow the 5/24 rule. If any of those are belonging to someone else/you're an authorized user then you may be able to still be approved by calling them after the application is denied. I literally just did this Saturday. I was 3/24 but my wife added me to 2 of her cards as an authorized user. That made me 5/24 in Chase's eyes. I called in and they overturned the denial. Had all 5 cards been mine then I would've most likely still been denied though.

So I want to leave a little follow up on my journey with Chase and my Ink Business Cash card. I've been doing more than expected business so that means more supplies that requires higher spend. So as I'm scurting close to my limit of 5k. I decided to just call in to CSC and see if I was eligible for a CLI. Well kinda surprised the agent came back on the line and said ok you're all set you're approved for 8k a total of 3k increase. Not bad for 3 months with Chase Business Ink. So you're saying I have a chance 🤪. Hope everyone is having a fantastic week thus far. It's going to be a good year I feel!!
