Chase business application rejected

I applied for my first business credit card, Chase Ink Business Preferred, and because I put the wrong business category, I got rejected. I called the reconsideration line and she told me she can't reconsider it but I can reapply with the right business category. I asked when and she said any time, even the same day. I reapplied with the right category but I got rejected and I received a notice from Chase saying that it was a duplicate application. Now, my question is: when can I apply for a new personal credit card? I was approved for my last one in August 2025, so I thought that I could apply 3 months later, meaning November 2025. But because I got rejected for the business card, do I have to wait 3 months before I apply for a personal card? meaning I would apply in February 2026.

I'd call them again being their system may have automatically flagged the second application as potential fraud.

You might want to hold off on any additional applications until you get this sorted out.

I called Chase reconsideration line and I was told that I can reapply only 30 days after, then he said thank you and have a great day. So can I really reapply for the same Chase business card in 1 month?

@oupsmince The thing is that 30 days they quoted you is only the minimum system rule they have. It allows time for their system to clear so as to avoid another application being deemed another duplicate. You might want to consider a longer wait, like around the 45 to 60 day mark.

After the 30 days though, this would be an additional HP. Within the 30 days, they only use the original. Man, I'm not sure what I personally would do. Keep us informed and more importantly, good luck.

I forgot that I paid my property taxes already, so I won't be able to meet the minimum spend with a business card. So I'm planning to apply for the Chase Sapphire Preferred. When should I apply? Also around 45 days after my failed business card application?

I'm thinking it wasn't your business category as the reason you were rejected. Chase is sensitive to both new accounts and to inquiries. I would hold off for a couple months. What is your report like? Do you have a business that separately reports to a business credit profile with net 30 or other types of accounts that would be considered?

I see in your signature it looks like you have the 4 accounts which are new within the past couple of years. I would hold off a bit and maybe build the business credit with trade lines and net 30 accounts.

The Chase letter said: "We're sorry, but we did not approve your request because we do not currently lend to businesses of your business/entity type". Right now, I will wait until 1 year to try to reapply for a business credit card. So when I can I apply for the Chase sapphire prefered card?

Hi @oupsmince - technically you can apply for the CSP at anytime as long as you are 5/24 on your personal side. As others have stated, Chase is sensitive (personal and business) to new accounts, so even if under 5 new accounts in 24 months it would be preferable to wait a few months before applying given your recent business decline.

May I ask what business type you used out of curiosity? You're sure that was the only reason and it wasn't due to business being too new or something like that?

I would be very upset if they couldn't fix the error and consider different cards. I believe multiple inquiries made within 30 days can count as 1.
