Did you end up getting the Citi corporate card? I had one earlier this year and it did not turn out well. Citi came after me for a charge that did not get processed correctly by my former employer. They report to your personal credit at 90 days past due. Citi is very difficult to work with and is showing very poor business judgment.

Hi does anyone have experience with a Citibank corporate or company card? My company has recently required me to travel more and I need to apply for the card. It will be issued as an individual account with sole responsibility for payment being on me. It is not an AU situation. In any case my scores on MyFico are TU: 650 , EX: 678, EQ 613. I really need to get the card since everything travel related is required to go on there. I closed an account with citi 5 years ago and I am just about to make the last payment on the balance - never had any baddies with citi.

Any idea if they are more relaxed with corporate card approval? I am so afraid of getting denied.

Any advice would be helpful.

yeah - I don't understand how your employer can make you do this either. If they require you to use a company card then they should just issue it as an AU card, otherwise, let me use my own existing cards. It's a big pain and I am in the midst of rebuilding my credit so I have no idea if they will approve me or not.

Hi Sqadan- Can you please let us know the outcome on your corp card approval and any details you can share? I am in very similar situation!

I've received a job offer from a huge financial company that checks credit as part of the background check where allowed by law. I guess based on the state that I live in or the position applied for the background company didn't check my credit report. I passed background and just accepted the offer.

After accepting the new job it was mentioned in passing that the company requires a corporate card for travel expenses. It might be a diner's club, not sure but I am sure that it was a mastercard rather than AMEX that was mentioned just can't recall if they said citi or chase because I was too busy cringing at the thought that I could be declined.

I have a mortgage that I am trying to settle that is an open current negative on my report (no payments made in a really long time). Credit score with EX is around 680 and I haven't checked other agencies yet but recall from last time I checked that EQ was the lowest.

I am now scared to quit my current job in the event that if I am declined and fear that the company can let me go once they know there are negatives on my credit report since meeting their credit requirements was mentioned upfront in the generic/template offer letter.

I do not know if the corp card is AU or Individual liability yet and won't know until I start but it is a huge company with over 10,000 employees.

Can anyone recommend what questions to ask to determine what type of card it is and whether they will check my credit without creating a huge red flag?

I only have experience with Amex Corporate cards as that is what I instituded for my company. My guess is that similar policies would apply elsewhere, but I cannot guarantee that. In my case, when I set up the amex corp account, I had to choose whether I wanted the cards to be individually paid (by employees) or company pay (paid as one lump some each month by my company). I chose the latter option only because I did not want a ton of expense reports being submitted and also, Amex offers a partner product called Concur Breeze, which allows for each travel and expense management. In the event of company pay, I have to provide the employees social, but it is not reliant on their personal credit.

Prior to starting my own company, I previously worked for one of the big 4 accounting firms and that company did require Corp Amex cards that were paid personally and did rely on personal credit for issuance. Each company is different, but I couldnt justify making my employees feel shamed or being on the hook for charges I am requiring them to make, so I went the corp pay route.

Thank you very much for your response- you've given me a ray of hope. I have since learned that it is a JP Morgan Chase corp card. The company will pay the bills directly but I'm still concerned that they will notify a bad credit pull and need special authorization from a company exec to get me approved or not.

I am in the credit industry (ugh) and my job offer was based on passing background and specifically states including a credit check. The only reason a credit check wasn't pulled as part of the background is the state that I live in so this 'could' be a huge problem if it needs to be escalated for executive approval. This is more than a potentially embarrassing situation specifically because of the industry that I'm in and I know what the offer letter stated.

I will report the outcome for others that may face the same situation with Corp Cards. I'm surprised there aren't more messages on this topic but hopeful that it means most folks get approved for large company corp cards regardless of personal credit.

Do you know if they did a soft pull on the employees personal credit? And would you know what info is shared on a soft pull vs. a hard pull? My credit score while not steller is not that bad.

Offered a Corporate Government Card through and employer and they did a hard pull (did not know). When I found out I declined having a card (not enough travel etc to warrant the card). My beef is not having it clearly explained and having a hard inquiry for a corporate card that I never needed or wanted!

I have an ex-girlfriend who had a corporate amex issued by her company. She had a massive amount of travel per year and would put it on the amex and submit her reimbursements. The company would pay her the money and she would pay her amex bill. She was personally responsible for the payment of the invoice. It was a major company though with its own travel office, so getting reimbursed wasn't that hard and the reimbursements would come in much quicker than the bill was due. Of course any non-reimbursable charges had to come out of her pocket.
