Barclays arrival plus cashback trick

Had 46000 points. Bought a fully refundable Amtrak ticket for 470, had it refunded the next day. Arrival still allowed me to use points to pay for charge after it was refunded. 450.00 cashback essentially.

The refund had already posted. I think the computer just matches up travel related charges. I doubt it is set up to monitor refunds, they are paying the same statement credit regardless.

Exactly. You can already use the miles for statement credit. Don't believe this is a trick at all, rather a feature.
