Amex cli with balance

Hello all. I'm not convinced of all the paranoid myfico members. Tomorrow is my 61 day 3x cli date. Have a 3500 starting limit. Hoping to get the full 3x. 10.500. I have a balance on my card. About 500 dollars. Or about 14% utilization. Will see if true or not when. Ask. If they decline. No big deal. I will pay in full and ask again in 91 days. I will leave the data points for others to know. Thanks all and any advice welcomed.

I got both my BSP CLIs with a balance showing.

$1,000/$5,000 when CLI to $7,000

$2,200/$7,000 when CLI to $12,000

taxi818, I also got increases with balances on both of my AMEX cards this year . I don't think you'll have any trouble at all. Good luck!

I did both CLIs on Amex with balances and had even balances on my other cards. It did not scare Amex and they approved everything I asked for. Good luck !

You'll be fine. I also had a balance, put a lot of spend on my Amex gold and got my limit doubled (counteroffer) and gof approved for an ED card with the lowest APR after the promo date.

I just did my first cli this morning. 6k -> 10k. Instant approval. Could have probably gotten 18k, but decided not to push it for now.

I asked for the full $21,000 and was only given $12,000 -- Ironically though, when I go to check spending ability i'm approved to spend up to $21,000.

Hmmm was your util high? I'm just trying to get it yo 10k. 6 months. 24k will be good. If so. Travel time.

Not particularly, overall, perhaps on that one card yes though.

$2,200/$7,000 at time of CLI request.

Always consider the source. It's never a matter of just one factor such as balance/no balance. Having no balance may help to some degree but people tend to rely on oversimplications. I've also received my CLI's with balances.

Last question. Today. Dec 8th. I actually got approved on October 7th. So technically today is 61st day I think. But. I remember when I logged in first time. It said oct 8 th so I said tomorrow is cli date.

Well I have been Amex card member since 2010 and always carried balance :-) (not proud) and I have always received my 3X CLIs. When I got approved for Hilton Honors, my overall util was upwards of 83% and they still approved me with 4500 CL, 60 days later I got 3X.

If a Credit Card company doesn't like people carrying balances then they are in the WRONG business.

I believe the Amex 3CLI is based off internal AMEX scoring.

For me I've always held a balance with Amex.. The last time I had requested CLI I had overspent AMEX by 500$. Request was approved.
