Barclay Reward initial CL

Got a pre-approval advertising 0% for 24 months. I have a big purchase planned and this would be great to pay over a few months.

I was just wondering what kind of CL people were getting with this card? I've never had a barclay account, so I'm not familiar with their credit approvals

Nice offer. Are you sure the 24mos isn't just for BT's though?

24 months on new purchases, and BT's, but the BT has to be posted within 45 days of account opening

I assume your after promo is 14.99. I figure you'll get between $5,000 and $10,000.

So THAT'S what happened to barclay's pre approval link (guess it's less work for csr's and recons). Now they buy the bucket of pre approvals.

Seems to really vary, some people get the lowest limit on Barclays (three years ago I got 4.7K on my Rewards. After closing that, last year I got $5K on Sallie Mae, less than 1/2 of my next lowest limit) But others get good limits.

Barclay Rewards MC is a World MC and the initial CL must be at least $5k. Zero APR seems to be quite common for them on purchases as well as BT. Be prepared to receive a LOT of mail from them pushing you to take the BT. They'll send you checks like once a month. However, 24 mos seems quite a lot. I've only seen 15-18 mos so far...

Um, in the list of cards for barclay's, the rewards card changed from average to good credit in the listing, but it's not automatically a WMC. And many start with much lower balances (however, the Sallie Mae IS automatically a WMC, with starting limits around 1500, and the arrival + too, we've seen starting limits from 600 for that one).

YMMV very much with this card.

No. It's not. World in name only. As most don't pay attention to visa signatures or world any more. For a fact my brother has 2600 limit on his rewards mc. Started at 1300. So who knows.

Hi guys. I was just approved for the Barclays rewards card @ $500 yesterday. I really want a higher CL but without waiting for a CLI. Is it a good idea to call the credit analysis and ask for the initial limit to be bumped up???? Ive made great progress on rebuilding, but I just cant seem to get an initial limit higher than $500, My current goal is at least 1k. Anyone ever try this????

Simply call them and say. I know barclays great. And I've been rebuilding. Would really like a little more to prove myself. I'm just asking a chase. When they ask how much you want. Say 3k. They will counter in that case and say 1k. If you ask for 500. They may give you 200. Just go high. They like to counter with lower amount. Don't be scared either. Worst they can say is no limit increase for you.

With your current card and limits you should receive a decent starting CL. If not you have the option to recon for more. It worked for me when I only had Discover It. Approved for $1.3 reconned to $3k, then after 6 mos. auto CLI to $5.2K.

Thank you.😊 I will def try that strategy. I you're right. I need to lay low with apps for awhile. I was able to PC my cap1 platinum to a rewards recently, but even with the two cap1 cards, they refuse to approve a CLI. Credit one just bumped me up 200=700. It just so frustrating. Still trying to learn to pace myself. I will post the outcome!

That's also been my experience with them. They are super conservative in my opinion. Other than my BBR, my next lowest limit after Barclays is the Cash Rewards at $2500, and Barclays only gave me $1000 on each of my cards.

Well I called this am and asked them about the intitial CLI, the rep asked me a few questions, and then told me after reviewing my CR, He sees that I have one late payment with cap1, (over a year ago of course) otherwise my credit history is good, but at this time they cannot offer a higher limit until I establish myself with their bank. He said that the $500 is comparible to other starting limits offered by other banks I have read from other people in the fico community that have said that they ask the recons more than once, and get positive results, Do you think that would be too pushy??

I got approved a little more than a week ago. I was able to 2X creidt limit that I initially approved for.
