PIN use warning

I just saw a video that shows how easy is to get the PIN used.

I have a Mexican card with Chip & PIN since a few years ago and I use it all the time on my travels to Mexico. Is funny to see when the people give you the terminal to enter you PIN they look away to give you privacy and not steal your PIN (they will need to have a way to recreate the chip and I hope is not easy), but after watching this video I'll start pressing more buttons after the transaction. Another thing to watch for are security cameras, so is a good thing to try to block the keys and your finger movement so there is no way someone can guess your PIN.

Yes always always finger over at least a few more buttons before u press enter. Also helps to use repeating numbers in pins.

Like 11-22-33, etc..

Interesting. A good way to avoid that as well is to use the stylus attached to the terminal.

Having used Chip & PIN terminals possibly thousands of times, I have yet to see one with a stylus attached. I have only seen a stylus attached at occasional terminals where signatures are required, such as at Target where you sign for larger charges. Maybe just carry a pen with you?

yep, trust the good'ol Chip+Signature then........

only with the unmanned terminals, Chip+PIN is solid.

Anything fishy, cancel & get a new card. That simple (regardless of Chip+PIN or Chip+Sign)
