So today after a frustrating call to 3 different citi call centers I walked away with 5k free AA miles and an APR reduction from 21.99 to 17.99. Not bad for just a half hour of my time.
But anyway to the point. For those of you who have high Citi APR credit card and have had perfect payment history for probably about 6months, I reccomend you call citi. Ask for a Senior Specialist (The lady I spoke to said normal CSRs cant do this) and they Can check in their system to see if they have a lower APR avalible for you to use. They dont ask any credit info so its not a HP (might have been SP) but they can give u an instant decision to see if ur APR can go down. Mine went down 4% and I know my FICO has dropped since Ive opened the account.

When I got my APR reduction, I called Citi's EO despite the fact the clueless reps kept telling me I didn't have any offers and they were able to do it with no problem. Good job.

Brothers girlfriends Citi TYP or Simplicity (not sure which) got APR reduction from 12.99 to 7.99. I believe she called and asked them to reduce it also. It's not a promotional APR either, it's the actual APR.

I didn't believe my brother at first, he's an AU on her card. To prove it to me, he called Citi and actually asked them to tell him what the APR is. To my surprise, 7.99%, not a promotion.

It's funny u had to go through all that just to get the APR reduced. For me it's the easiest thing I always get away from Citi, never even had to call in for a day. I just get on the online chat and request for a lower APR, approved instantly. Also u don't have to wait 6months, I went from a 21.99% to currently 13.24% on my AA card within 90days of having the card. I asked for the reduction every 30days and always got it. But congrats on getting yours lowered!
