Citi Closed All My Accounts

I'm obviously not happy but at the same time, I gotta take my lumps and just accept what happened here and move on from Citi for a while and then contact them back to see if they'll reopen any of my accounts. I don't even use my card with them anymore so it's not that big of a loss or anything but still. I was extremely livid for a bit and shocked at what happened but it's also a wake up call for me to slow down too. It would have been at least nice to have been notifed by phone as to what happened. I really need some advice from someone who's been through this.

No baddies or anything like that on my report. Just wanted to write this to let everyone know to be very careful.

Since you said slow down, are you saying they closed you because of MS? Not trying to start an MS debate, more just curious because it sounds like you know why they closed you down.

That sucks since I see you had a grandfathered Forward :-(

Sorry to hear that... How many accounts did you open since the citi card if you don't mind me asking? The reason I asked is because based on your limit on the Citi card, I highly doubt if they closed you for "MS". It is probably for too many new accounts which can be interpretated as "aggressive credit seeking". Slow down alittle if that is what it is and let the new accounts age.

Stuff they got on the CR. New accounts spooked them and I think the Home Depot one really triggered it the most. I'll take this as a huge learning experience and be 100x more carefulf from here on out. They said I was very welcome to see if I can get my accounts reopened with them in a few months.

Sorry to hear this Obviously not a good thing to have this happen but you seem to be taking it fairly well and viewing the decision with a mature attitude

I do see you have at least 5 or 6 accounts opened between October 2014 and now. I guess that's what scared them away, it still sucks though, because technically you weren't really doing anything wrong, but slow down is definitely good advice for everyone

Why not now?

I called them and they seem very strict about the CR yet I really don't feel like Citi's worth my time anymore. I'm dumping them as a result and moving on if that's how they feel. At least I didn't burn them for anything or have a charge off from them which is what's really important to me.

I really expected this much more from Barclays than from Citi BTW.

I'd pursue it with EO and then dump them on my own terms for this. But i'm not the kind to get dumped.

The Forward is probably a lost cause unless Citi is super nice. It is a discontinued product, so I'm not sure they would let that one be reopened, but you never know.

Woe! And i thought Amex + Barclays were the one's that drawed the line on recent new accounts.

Sorry to say the least that Citi turned out to become a stopper like that. Try to get them reopened at that timetable they set for you.

It's not even the good version of the Forward either. It's the college version without the 5x points on restaurants. Not really that useful to me when I have an AARP for that. They never even let me PC to the Double Cash either. It was my first credit card too.

My Dad had been running plenty through the card though as an AU but not even that triggered anything. I almost thought it might have been because of maybe some charge they thought was fraudulent.

I think something was amiss when I was at HD earlier and used my social so I could use the card before it got here to buy a 30 dollar drill. It was declined right there on the spot but I didn't think it meant they closed all my accounts. It was when my dad called me to say that the card got declined that I knew something happened and then I checked my account page and was shocked to see my CL was gone and everything.
