Does anyone have a CC with them?

I saw that their cash builder card is 1.25% cash back but their points card (or whatever they call it) gets 4 points per dollar on everything. Anyone know anything about their rewards or what their points are worth? I figure a card with 4 points on everything is a nice deal...but that also depends on how much one can redeem with their points.

Any thought on them?

The are a fairly conservative bank, but that can be overcome with a good relationship with them. This relationship can aid in getting a card. I tired when I virtually had no money in my account with them and just average credit and was denied. A year after that I tried again after transferring a fair amount of money into my account. They approved me then. At the time I had probably 8-10 new accounts since the last app. That obviously dipped my AAoA, increased my risk, increased new accounts, and increased inqiries. It did net me some better cards than I had before and some with higher limits. One was $8,000, but not theirs. When I apped after that, they not only granted me the accout, they upgraded it to a Signature card. I really wasn't expecting that from what I had read about them and I really only wanted the card so that I could have overdraft protection. (But it has gotten a fair amount of use because it is a good everyday card.)

The Cash Back card has better rewards than does the Points. Depending on which type of relationship account you have with them you can earn up to 1.75% cash back on the credit card. This can be a benefit and make it a good standard everyday card to have. It gets more use than my Capital One cards because of this. In fact I really only use my Capital One cards at the moment for overseas spending. PNC does have a FTF, while CapOne does not. I used to earn 1.75% with them, but now earn 1.5% after putting my money in a Money Market fund with them. You have to have at least $50 before you can redeem the cash back, yet you can redeem any amount over that. So if you had $73.02, you could redeem $73.02. I don't believe it is in increments like Discover. They also have other rewards offers, like Amex does, so you earn extra rewards through those offers.

Once you get the card, you have to apply for a future credit limit increase, with a hard pull. I don't think they every do auto CLIs, or if they do it is for a few chosen few. Someone else would have to chime in on this as PNC tells me that the rule is for everyone and it is always a HP. I haven't read any threads which say this is not the case, but if someone does know that they do have different practices for different cardholders, I would be happy to know this info. For the most part they are good customer service orientated bank and I have never had any issues with them.

The PNC Cash Builder is better than the PNC Points card. I had been a customer for 3 years and applied in branch, got a $800 limit, probably due to recent new accounts at the time. Since I have a performance checking account with them, it's 1.50% cash back. I stopped using it after awhile because of low limit and having better cards.

I was denied for the PNC Flex card after getting a "pre-qualified" mailing. (To add insult to injury, I got another one the same day I got the denial letter.) I pulled 696. Reasons were high DTI, high utilization, and a collection on my report. I've banked with them for 7 years, too, and have 2 checking accounts and a savings. I didn't know about this forum at the time, or I would have tried a recon.

I have their CashBuilder credit card. It took me 3 different times to get this card and they started me at $500 and like 6 months later i asked for an increase to $3k and was given $1500 and i have left it sit at that limit of $1500. At the moment i only charge my monthly Auto Insurance to it, which is good since I have an auto loan with them they can see that I have proper insurance and all.

I also had gotten the card so they would have a better look into my credit history to be able to approved me for my auto loan and that worked!

When i was denied for their card the first 2 times their denial letters were rudely written and almost singled me out.

Also their Underwriters are hard to reach since they are only available till like 7pm here on the East coast, so if i need an increase or something i have to make sure to call right after i get home from work.

Someday I will ask for an increase, maybe in a year when more inquaries fall off and my newer credit and auto loan ages a bit.

Anyone know anything about their rewards or what their points are worth? I figure a card with 4 points on everything is a nice deal...but that also depends on how much one can redeem with their points.

Any thought on them?

Don't get their credit cards ...

I have the PNC Cashbuilder credit card.

I opened a checking account with them about 3.5yrs ago, and at the same exact time applied for the credit card since I was completely new to credit. My dad I guess was the one who actually applied, and they just put me on as an AU. And, that's how my credit card journey began! The CL is $5000, and has never changed (not that I would ever need it to).

Also, the cashback rewards are 1.25% to begin. There are certain requirements for the checking account, and if you meet them you will be earning 1.5% back. You need to accumulate $50 to "cash out".

No they do not. But if you have had a secured card for 12 months with no issues it is very very likely you will be approved for one of their regular cards. You do have to request it though. At this was the case when I left PNC nearly 2 years ago (after working there for 5).
