Cap One CLI Help

My friend has a Capital one Platinum with a limit of $300 she currently has a balance of $0 and she wants to know how to get a CLI with a SP or HP..

i dont have a cap 1 so i dont know

It's a SP... request it thru the website and if denied send the EO a Facebook message.

Generally it's 6 months between CLI's... at least that's how it's been for me.

Tell your friend not to get too excited about requesting an increase. I've had that card since dec 2010 which started at 300 and capped at 1,000 for the last few years. I have very good credit and enough income to warrant a better limit. I emailed CEO's, called backdoor numbers blah blah blah and NOTHING!! I'm actually logged on now to post my own topic on capital one in regards to canceling the account.

My experience has been the opposite...

$1000 > $1500 > $2000 > $4000

$500 > $750 > $2750

The first increase on each was Credit Steps... the second increase on the top card involved a call to the EO... The last $2000 increase on both cards were luv button...

I rarely use either card ($50-$200 per month if that) and they are mainly for UTI padding because Sallie Mae gets the vast majority of my card usage now. Prior to Sallie Mae that distinction went to my BECU card.

we will see what happens. we just did the CLI and it says it will be under review.

My last request via online request took about 7 days before it was approved. Went from $500 to $3500. While that sounds good

Sorry accidentally hit post before I was done.

My last request via online request took about 7 days before it was approved. Went from $500 to $3500. While that sounds good it took a long time. Second CLI in the 4.0 years I've now had the card. While the CLI was under review I got the card PCd from the Platinum to QuickSilver One. The same day I requested the CLI I applied for the QuickSilver card and was instantly approved for $1000. Then I applied for the Barclays Rewards MC but it was initially deniend then I called for reconsideration a week later and approved for $1000. Good luck to you!

FWIW, Opened QS1 & Plat MC early November, after several attempts at CLIs, got fed up and applied for QS, instant $5K approval with better APR & BT.

Still scratching my head

yeah i hear the low limit starters are hard to increase unless you call EO or go thru social media.

its a shame it takes 3 HP's to get a better card with them but seems like the fastest way to grow.

Hi they let you have three cards when I try they say no only two cards allowed.

Capital One is weird. I've had a QS1 for 7 years, started as Orchard Bank, then Cap One Platinum, then QS1. It's been like pulling teeth getting CLI's, and it's currently at $1800. This month I applied for the QS and was instantly appoved at $3K.

Capital one is definately a strang one I applied for a cli and was denied about a month later i get a auto cli go figure, alot of people complain about not getting increases but for me started at 1500 now at 3800 but i do cary a ballance with them sometimes I think that's the kicker

Where do you see them say only two cards are allowed? That's not accurate in my experience; I recently had 4 open at the same time before closing a secured card. I've seen signatures of other myFICO members that indicate they have more than 2 as well.

The limit is 2 mainline cards from Cap-1 that is straight from them, cards that have been aquired like the HSBC cards are not counted against that 2 limit, neither are cobranded cards like the Sony or GM cards, you can have an unlimited number of cobranded cards.
