Which Credit Cards Offer Free Roadside Assistance

Time to renew AAA and read some cards offer free roadside assistance.

I am not just looking for just linkage to a towing service but actual free roadside services.

Anyone have any experience?

Oh. Amex Hates me plus I don't want the fee. I guess AAA gets my business again LOL.

Yes. The problem is that the insurance roadside assistance covers the vehicle and not the driver. My wife and I drive each others cars but are with different insurance companies'.

It seems with all the ins and outs on Travel Services (confusing) I have maintained my AAA Membership since 1976 so I know it is actually there. Card Services seem to change benefit plans often so I figured there is one that is for sure.

Different insurance companies in the same family? My State Farm policies complement each other with discounts for multiple lines; two cars, a motorcycle, house. Are you sure you are saving money by having two insurance companies?

We go the quote thing constantly. Unfortunately we have two different driving records and my wife is an accident magnet. She gets a good rate with her insurance company because of longevity. I get a good rate rate with mine because my employer coinsures me.

Doing a quick Google, there is a concern that using an insurance company provided roadside assistance call could factor into future rate calculations. "State Farm, the nation’s largest insurer, says the use of roadside assistance is a very small factor in calculating rates or considering a driver’s insurability."

Small factor or no, What I see, if I try to wrap roadside assistance in with the auto insurance, I don't have the ability to manage the severity of the roadside call. With a separate agency like AAA, it's no harm in calling them. If it's a real insurance claim, then also call the insurance agent.

I would stick with AAA.

I've owned a AAA platinum visa for over a decade. It was MBNA and now it's BofA. It was one of the first to offer 5% gas rebates 12 years ago. It got nerfed when gas prices skyrocketed. It also has zero towing benefits. I keep it for emergencies as it has 7.99% fixed rate, but it resides in the sock drawer.

Many comprehensive auto insurance policies include a couple "free" tows per year or roadside service. Call your agent to see what's available/included in your policy.
