Chase freedom approved. CLI before activating card? Help

Hello

i was recently approved for a chase freedom card for $3,500. When i got the email after applying it mentioned if that amount was not good for me, i can call in when i get my card to see if i can get a higher amount. I just got my card today and would like to try for a higher amount.

Has anyone had any luck doing this? Also, it is a HP right?

They will want an HP. Chase tends to approve for what they're willing to extend, period.

I don't know if anyone has had luck. If so, you probably need the EO, because the CSRs will tell you you were approved for what they felt they could extend to you.

I don't know why 3500 isn't good -- the 5% categories are capped anyway, and there's not too much point in spending your general spend on this card for 1% unless it's one of your only cards I guess.

In any case, yes, it will be a HP if you want to try and get more CL. I would personally just wait, keep it for 6 months, use it often and responsibly, and then call. It will still be a HP, but they will be more likely to give you more. Right now, you may possibly get like an extra 500, I doubt anything substantial. But whether now or later on, Chase is not known for being generous with CLI's anyway, so it's really hit or miss.

I don't think they'll do another HP after having one done the day before, but its possible. @Nixon says they'll pull hard.

They generate a CL with what they feel comfortable with and if you can persuade a CSR that you have a different opinion, they'll raise it for you.

They did a HP on me when I CLI'd, but I hadn't just applied. It had been over a year.

They say that for all their cards that you can request a increase. Also the EO in my opinion isn't much help when it comes to increased.

When I got my slate I called the EO to recon the limit They said only thing they can do is a CLI request and it was another HP and when it got declined I asked if they could do anything and the answer was no.

Better off waiting a bit, then apply for a new card and move some CL over.

Same story here.

HP on EX for the card, and then another HP on TU for the CLI request, denied.

In my case, I requested the CLI right at the start for a BT, I didnt talk to an EO.

I'm never a big fan of lenders who want HP for CLI. As much as I get it as to why they may want to, it just is such a waste to me to spend a HP on a possible increase, and then be rewarded with a tiny increase (it often happens that way).

You should just wait and like Nixon said just reapply later and move it around, then close the older one.

If it was BoA, I'd take the HP for a CLI because there's much more potential to actually get something decent especially if you have a live person look at your CR manually.

With Chase, I wouldn't really bother. They do give auto CLIs occasionally though.

Anyway, I moved 2k from the Amazon.com Rewards to Freedom and 5k to CSP.

And for your Freedom and Amazon cards, did they use the same HP for approval?

It is, but to be honest, Chase or any other lender has never asked for verification. Please let me know your results, as I would like to know if the co-branded theory carries any weight.

Chase is odd, they auto raise CL's occasionally but for whatever reason, it tends to be easier to just get a new card.
