i was just approved for baclay rewards mc YAY ME!!!😁😁😁😁but my question is how do the points work? how many points amount to a $1? and what and where is the best way of taking advantage of this card?thank u in advance fellow bloggers

Anyways, you need 2500 points for statement credit. Its 2 x for groceries, gas, and utility. Use the boost rewards portal to shop online.

100 points = $1.00

you May Cash in your points for a statement credit for whatever points you have. Doesn't have to be in $25 increments. 2,345 points = $23.45 statement credit.

Now the gift cards etc. is different. Must be in increments.

Earn 2 points for every $1 you spend on gas(usually anything at the gas station), grocery and utility purchases
Earn 1 point for every $1 you spend everywhere else
Redeem points for statement credit, gift cards, and merchandise
Enjoy no points cap – earn and redeem as many points as you want
Points do not expire

You can redeem your points for cash back and pay yourself back statement credits, gift cards and merchandise. Statement credit and gift card redemptions start at 1,000 points for $10. Pay yourself back statement credits can be redeemed for any purchase of $10 or more within the last 90 days. Merchandise redemption values vary based on what you are redeeming for.

This has to be one of the most complicated cash rewards cards. Many of Capital One's are a standard 1.5% per $1 spent. Chase Freedom is a standard 1% with an additional 4% on rotating categories per $1 spent, as does Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and many others. Other cards are offering sign up cash back incentives of $100-300 for just opening and making a minimum purchase amount. This is not a great card, there are others you may qualify for with a low credit score. My 2¢

Old thread, but why is this complex? 2% on a few categories. 1% on the rest, need min of $25 to redeem. The same complexity as any other category card, arguably simplier than IT/Freedom in that the categories don't rotate.

But I agree it is not a great card!

It's not a great card but it is a good card for "starting out" and still getting some type of rewards.

As for complexity, I agree, no more complex than most programs and honestly less complex than some.

your $.02 is kinda flawed. let's see why:

"most complicated cash rewards card".... it is decently straight forward. 1% on all purchases except 3 categories which earn 2%. pretty easy and they're commonly used. sure the ONLY cap1 card you mention is 1.5 no matter what but that doesn't make the rewards card confusing.

also, how are rotating category cards EASIER to remember than 3 categories on the rewards card? you have 3 categories PER QUARTER to remember with the rotating category cards lol. if you don't like the rewards card just says that but don't diss a decent card for no reason with no proof

There are couple hidden categories I can not recall since i only own this card via pc for less a month before i closed it last year.

I agree with Climbingfico, this is a nothing exciting about this card unless one has low score and just want get in with Barclay, or burnt almost everybody else, and trying to rebuild.

This is false:

1) not actually complex

2) For rebuilders or those newer to credit the big banks are not handing out cards like candy.

3) Its not nice to lie to those with lower scores and get them to app for cards that offer incentives of 100-300 because likely they will not get approved. I have way too many inquiries because I believed posters like yourself saying things like that and its frankly not true and I wish I had done more research first but eyesight is 20/20 as they say.

Yes KDM you're right. I get emails once in a while for boosting my rewards with their portal of deals.

It's very simple.

For each dollar you spend you get a a point, except that you get 2 points per dollar for grocery, utilities, and gas purchases.

The simplest way to redeem points is just convert them to a cash back statement credit, which you can do whenever you've stored up 1000 or more points. Just go to manage rewards>cash back redeem now, then insert the number of points you're redeeming and click.

yes! sorry it is hindsight! I dont know why I said eyesight...I guess I just thought it sounded better last night lol.

they do have the portal of deals which is also pretty great.

Ultimately I think this card is great for people that arent at 700 yet and cannot get things like the citi double cash or the sapphire preferred. I know it has been my main card for about a year and I have appreciated it.
