Well, AMEX sent me a note today letting me know that they've put a $2,000 hard limit on my PRG.

I may be closing it soon if I can't get a downgrade to the Green (March will be the end of my first year that I had with no annual fee), but in the interim I was wondering if AMEX will start reporting the hard limit on my credit reports. My next statement cuts next week.

Thanks in advance!

I'm curious as well but I'm not sure if I want to "poke the bear" so to speak. I have a couple of ideas but don't really want to speculate. I only run around $500-$600 a month on it PIF. I do have a couple of high balances on other cards from the holidays...not sure if that played a role but not too worried. Like I said, I may be closing it soon because of the annual fee...am still trying to get an AMEX revolver but FICO's are on the lower side for them (last denial letter I got from them had EX in the 650's)

That would be strange, the way i use my PRG i spend between 300-1000 dollars a month. and pay in full before they tell me to. on the other hand for my green charge i only run like 80 bucks a month and i havent gotten a letter.

this is intresting.

Back in 2007 I had a couple late payments on my Business Card (didn't watch anything too closely, paid when I had time and didn't worry about it otherwise) and they placed a $4500 hard limit on it. If I had a busy month and the balance was climbing I would have to call them and make a payment to be able to use again.

True fax, my PRG was temporarily suspended yesterday because I had a balance way higher than normal (holiday charges, basically).

Apparently, an outstanding balance of exactly $2001 dollars and fifteen cents (**bleep**ing LOL) was too far out of the norm for my spending habits and they pretty much forced me to make a payment over the phone. Now, I COULD have paid the entire balance then and there, but not wanting to empty my bank account two days before payday, I only put down $700, my usual monthly spend. That got them to reactivate my card.

They didn't mention anything about a hard limit, though. The analyst just kept stressing that the balance was higher than usual. I can understand that...

But what I'm disturbed by is the fact that I have a new job lined up that requires air travel, often on short notice. It's been made extremely clear that I'll be expected to pay for what will potentially be some very expensive tickets up front if I don't want to end up at the unemployment office. So what if Amex suspends my **bleep** while I'm at the ticket counter at 2am? It's not a comforting thought.

...

**bleep**, I'm trying not to curse and suffer another ban, but it's hard as ff... heck.

@Stralem wrote:

It's not a comforting thought.

...

**bleep**, I'm trying not to curse and suffer another ban, but it's hard as ff... heck.

Time for some CLI's on other cards or time to send in 4506-T to AMEX if this is the case.
