Places where Discover is not Accepted

So this month ive been using my Discover It card to give it some usage since ive been just paying a big balance i had. So i went to this place called Pollo Tropical where they sell food and for the First time i was told they dont take discover and it made me feel bad. and i had to uuse my CSP which the lady told thats a better looking car than the discover.

anyways here in Miami Florida i know two places they dont take discover from experiences

1. Pollo Tropical

2. Marlins Park Stadium (but this year they started taking Discover)

any places theyve told you they dont take discover ?

Also the papa Murphy's next to me used to not take them but they switched to not taking amex.

And the place to renew my license its MC or cash only.

Hardly anywhere in Israel. And not accepted at all in Jordan....

Also not accepted at my favorite Pho place here locally. :/

A few Chinese restaurants around here do not accept Discover OR AMEX.

Only place I can think of is Culver's, which will mean absolutely nothing to you if you aren't from the midwest. Why they'll take Amex but not Discover is a mystery I'd rather not allocate precious neurons towards contemplating. Their loss.

My culvers takes discover... The bar I work at doesnt take discover or amex. A lot of one off local places around here take only mc/visa.

Pretty much no one takes it where I live, not even Micky Ds or Wendys. Maybe a few places in the tourist side of town, Kmart and Home Depot but that's pretty much it. I've counted 8 places that I can use the card. And none are major supermarkets.

That is just a bad business decision, its the same over in my area strangely enough, they WON'T take Amex or Discover but they'll take Food Stamp EBT cards seriously Papa Murphys??????

An increasingly bothersome trend but that is a conversation not suited for this thread.

I've had PM's exactly 2 times. Wasn't that great.

Historically, I think some places didn't take Amex because they had higher fees than Visa/MC; I'm not sure if that is still true. If I recall correctly, when a small business is setting up CC processing, some merchant banks charge a base fee to accept Visa/MC, then additional fees for the capability of accepting Amex and/or Discover. For small shops, it might not make sense to pay the higher setup & maintenance fees + higher swipe fees as well.

In the Virgin Islands. I think there's only one gas station that takes it down here also, so for the most part the 5% category right now is almost useless. I only got it cause I do a lot of online shopping.
