Hey All,

I check my softpulls often on EX and have noticed that Cap One has been softpulling me pretty often. I am wondering is it due to the new Venture approval. I was SP'ed on 12-19-15. 1-17-15, 2-06 and 2-07-15 (approved for Venture on the 6th) and then again on 2-23-15. I have only put about $500 on the card (10K limit) . Another odd thing is that these softpulls are different than normal.. the name comes up under CAP ONE instead of Capital One. Has anyone experienced this?

I hope this isn't the start of something new....

I haven't seen them doing it any more often than normal for me.

It's a SP, it's not hurting you. It is likely they are simply keeping an eye on things since they just issued you $10k in credit. Wouldn't worry about it.

Are you guys using the online prequal tool or something?

Also, Capital One has other divisions like home loan or car loan. May that is why it's showing up differently on your credit report? Maybe, now that you have a higher limit card with them and you're in their database, they're trying to figure out if you also need a mortgage.

So, does anyone know if the credit report that they soft pull is the same used for hard pulls when applying? For instance, I know that Chase is reported to typically hard pull Experian when you apply. However, I have 15 soft pulls by Chase on my TU between 1/08/2015 and 02/06/2015. Does that mean if I apply for a Chase card, they will hard pull TU? Or do the banks use different bureaus for soft pulls versus hard pulls. Trying to strategize for some apps, but what I'm seeing on my soft pulls doesn't coincide with what I've read here on other posts or on the credit pulls database.
