Discover IT rewards ugh

Hello,

I hate how discover doesn't show rewards by transaction like my bofa cash rewards does. How am I supposed to know if there are any discrepencies?

Mee too. I actually called regarding how the rewards shows in my statement. But they didn't really explain it to me why they do it that way. I do prefer to have it itemized just so I know.

It is annoying, although Discover isn't the only one to do this. My Amex BCE doesn't break it down by transaction either, neither does my Chase Amazon. The Amazon lists the points earned for each special category but not per transaction.

I don't get why they don't make the information accessible; obviously they have it since they're calculating rewards, so why not just show it on my statement? As you said, makes finding an issue easier.

To be fair, it's not just Discover that does this for reward calculations.

My Citi TYP only summarizes points on the statement.

Drives me nuts for both my TYP and It...

I'm not sure about the Chase Amazon card, but for my Freedom and Marriott cards... Chase shows me the rewards calculations on the activity section of my account. It's not shown on the statement, but at least I can see the math.

I'm sorry, I do stand corrected - the Amazon Visa does list my reward per transaction if I click the activity like you mentioned. Just doesn't show it on the statement itself.

I have the ED. When I go to the rewards page and click the "+" I can then click on "show detail." It's a pain but at least, it does give an itemization.

Barclays does a great job with showing rewards. They are credited immediately and listed right next to the charge. Wish other CCCs would follow this model.

If I view my transactions on BCE, and go to bottom of page and click "bonus details" I can see rewards per transaction, albeit with the same delay that they have with posting (in other words cannot view rewards for current transactions).

So still not as seamless as some but you can see it per transaction. Thanks!

Guess maybe Discover is the worst with this then.

It really isn't that difficult to do the math yourself and then compare it to the amount Discover has. It's just time consuming is all, but then again we can't expect the bank to do everything for us all the time.

I agree, Discover is pretty awful, and I don't like how slow Amex is with posting. Barclays posts when the transaction hits. If an item is returned, they just deduct those points. Simple, clean and easy!

I dont trust discover, so each monthly statement, i calculated my reward by spreadsheet, that's how i noticed they withhold 45$ in reward. AND I ONLY RECEIVED THAT 3 MONTHS LATER, XTRA ANNOYING!

We are the ones giving them money the least they could do is itemize it....they do it for themselves why not just make that information availablity?

Cap1 does an excellent job of showing itemized rewards and having rewards post very quickly, not post statement. Discover could learn a thing or two.

The break downs are shown on each translation with chase cards. If you add them up, they come out rounded up. Easier than Amex, have no experience with discover.

Barclay's is great with showing the rewards. As soon as it posts, there's the amount of rewards you receive. But I also think they have one of the best websites as well, better than Discover.

I love how Barclay posts the rewards. They seem to be the best with it out of the cards I have.
