US Airways Card

I realize this card will convert to the AA Aviator. How long will it remain the AA Aviator? Will Barclays always support the card or eventually sell it to Citi?

It will stay with Barclays. If the day comes that they no longer can give out AA miles then they would either close the card or PC you to another Barclays card. Citi has their own AA cards so they don't need Barclays card.

I got excited today when I got mail from barclays with a card in it...but it was a hologram fake card.

yeah i got that too I think barclays will be my aa miles accruing card for at least this year. Citi aa has too high of an apr and low CL. Also the 50% spending bonus us airways is offering for next few months is pretty nice.

Yeah. I'm paying the whole families bills with it while that bonus is active.

For current holders, they should become legacy cards for quite some time. For me, I think I prefer the Aviator cards over the AAs from Citi. I'll likely keep my Aviator for future AA flights, and close my Citi ones.

Keep the aviator, and churn the heck out of the citi cards is a good plan.

Hahaha...in addiition, over the years, I've come to appreciate and find Barclay very fitting for my useage. Initially, I was wary of all the AAs I've read regarding them, but my experience has been the complete opposite.

They've become one of my favorite issuers.

It seems like everyone is being converted to the Aviator Red. I wonder if there is any way to change what card you get after the merger. Personally I'd rather get the Silver.

I think you can; read somewhere that after April, anyone can request the Silver, assuming you're ok with the higher fee.

Hope so, I got the mailer that says I'm getting the Aviator Red. I want the Silver because I plan on traveling more this year and next and the 3x miles for airline purchases would be nice.

I think it will be determined by whether or not you call up and ask to be upgraded to the silver.
