Citi Double Cash expiration

Just got a flashy invitation for the Discover IT, and noticed in their feature comparison that "Your cashback never expires" has an X (No) against Citi DC. So I looked more carefully and indeed DC cashback expires if you haven't earned cashback within the last 12 months. I think that period is shorter than many, so those that want to hate DC, theres another reason!

I did like Discover's "Free FICO Credit Score online and on statements" which none of the others have checked off. I guess the claim is that Citi just has it online (which is really sort of good enough!)

Seems like use every 11 months for a pack of gum will keep it on there. Not gonna garage hundreds of $$ on there now.

As long as you use your DC card once every 12 mos .and keep in good standing it shouldn't expire. Its ridiculous it can though. Just my opinion.

I'm still unhappy about the fact that they say they can't locate a FICO score for me... or it's unavailable. (Citi) Why is it unavailable? LOL

Wow, that's lame. At least with Discover if you go inactive they'll eventually just apply the cash back as a statement credit or send it do you.

In regards to the FICO thing, it may just be because Discover's been doing it longer and so they haven't updated stuff, but yeah, if you get paper statements Discover WILL mail you your FICO once a month, which is handy.

I would be more concerned that Citi would close down my account due to lack of use if I didn't charge anything to it for an entire year.

I haven't experienced that with Citi, some cards I don't use for more than a year. But now I need to check on my Dividend. I have about $20 there and with the stupid $50 redemption limit, no immediate plans to redeem!

You should take that up with Matt Stone and Trey Parker. In case you haven't heard, you are deceased (fairly regularly), and it takes 6 months to generate a score.

Citi's FICO is available for me (as is Barclay's). But not Discover. Oh well.

I think it's really stupid when issuers make points/cash expire -- you earned them, and particularly in the case of cash, there is no reason to take them away! It's stupid.

That being said, if someone was using their Double Cash that infrequently they probably don't really need it. It's a general spend card so if one is only using it once a year, it's pretty pointless!

Nothing is given by a bank that doesnt make them a profit in the long run. Its just like rebated when you go to the store, its a fact 75% are never redeemed and I am going to assume that in the world of CC rewards that applies as well with all the different people that have cards. We here on this forum in the "know" are a very small minority.
