How many Amex cards can you have

I have the Amex Green, just got the Delta Gold this week and am AU on DW ED card. I would like to have the Hilton Card or BCP. Would that be asking for too many cards and should I wait before I app for the BCP

I think it would all depend on your credit profile. I have 3 amex cards right now with no real issues so far. I do believe amex has internal limits that they allow for amount of CC and overall CL

I just don't understand why would someone want 5 amex cards. two maximum. its not like another is gonna make a difference. ok. i see 1 charge and 1 revolver which i have. the only reason i say that is when they shut all your cards down. you are screwed. anyway. you already have 3. why not go with different lenders and get 3 from and many difference lenders as possible. its just this is spinning my head. what rewards?

mr points are all the same. cash back. too many to mention. travel rewards. really. amex and substandard at best on those. im not dashing your hopes just trying to understand. why on earth would i want 7 amex cards. even if i could have 10. one revolver with high limit is more than enough. anyway. done venting. sorry op. good luck on your journey.

1 personal charge & 1 personal credit

4 business charge cards & 1 business credit

Not to mention all the AF that go along with those cards. Makes the MR points worse than worthless, because you are shelling out so much cash in fees every year.

Actually, I am.......I just wish I had apped for the BCP card because of it's 6 points on groceries.....I had been trying to get a revolver for a while and apped for the Delta Gold since it is suppose to be easier to get. My DW is closing the ED card. I don't know if you can PC the Delta to the BCP......I have been thinking about trying for the BCP and if approved, close the Delta Card.

For backdating purpose? I'd love to have some more Amex cards just to boost my AAoA

I have 2 revolvers right now. I am sure I will apply for more going forward once my backdate exceeds my average, but for now honestly the EDP is good enough for me. I just keep the BCE around for the age and hopefully to grab my rewards $ out soon

as other have mentioned its

Personal:

4x revolvers, and one each of the charge cards,

AU cards:

you can also be AU on one or more AMEX cards,

Buessines cards

then you can add in bussiness cards,

Corp Issued cards:

and possibly one or more Corp Amex if your full time employers issue one.

So potentailly you have have a hell of a lot of AMEX cards.

The easiest anwser is Back dating goodness, and then different reward programs, signing bonuses, and card benefits ( platimum).

Since AMEX doesn't have problems issusing me cards with 6k plus CL's dont partictually need more cards with 15k plus CL's
