Amex Serve Online CC Loading Options Changing

Just got an email today saying that starting next month that only American Express cards will be eligible for online loads. Discover, Mastercard, and Visa cards will not be eligible anymore.

Has anyone else gotten this email today? Wanted to make this topic because I realize that there are some folks here who use Amex Serve to pay bills and such.

This sucks because I used my QS or SM every month for $1k upload that I paid rent and car note with. easy $15 a month in rewards

For The record before someone flys off the handle, no I was not doing MS. Amex was cutting a check for my rent and sending electronic
payment to WF Dealerservices for my car not.

This is is sad news any other solutions ? I may look I to Evolve or whatever it's called.

evolve is now 3% for most cc, so not a good solution. If you can get a Redbird for Target, that's going to be the best substitute for many, although can't load from home!

Received this morning as well. I signed up for a card a few months ago but haven't actually used it yet. Guess I'll just cancel it now.

I bet they start FR-ing or cutting limits when you use it for Serve. Amex just seems like one big trap master.

This method of Serve loading involves only Amex, so they can more easily restrict it. Target Prepaid and to some extent BlueBird have other partners who might not want to do this, (e.g. Target having to tell people you can use any card for these purchases but this one has to be Amex). And cc loads don't really apply to Bluebird.

Being "nerfed" just means that the program has downgraded in some way. Like how US Bank Cash+ used to have a crapload of categories for the 5% and now it just has a dozen or so - the rewards program was "nerfed".

It's gamer slang, opposite of "buff" (like skill or status buffs).

Right, there's never been any reason to use any non-cobranded Amex cards to load Serve. Moving forward, the cobranded cards with have more value for those who utilize Serve, such as the Fid Amex, Wells Fargo Propel, and Flexperks Amex.

In my estimation, since Serve waives CC loading fees, they are taking a loss each time a customer loads with a CC.

Since Amex owns Serve, if they're going to subsidize CC load losses in hopes of making it back with Serve card debit useage, they mind as well monetize the load fees by limiting it to the Amex network, rather than having it spillover to Visa, MC or Discover.
