Apr was 19.24%. Wasn't under a 0% promotion. Got Delta Gold June 2014.

Yeah. I'll have to utilize that sweet apr. And I was just getting ready to kick my Delta to the curb this summer cause I hate annual fees. The plan is to app BCE and transfer Delta's limit. Looks like I won't be closing it till next summer.

This is why they did it

And despite what people say Amex would love ot make interest off you, as long as you aren't a huge portion of your credit line or your DTI isn't out of wack.. Extra money for them.. So its a win-win for them and possibly you if you need to carry a balance at a good apr!

I and several others got this offer in November 2014, marketed as a "Holiday Rate" offer. It maps from the 19.24 --> 6.99, 17.24 --> 4.99, or 15.24 --> 2.99 12 month APR on new purchases during the 12 month period. If a card is not in the co-branded list with these three original APR, if for some reason it is outside the specific three APR, or has some other offer going on, then no offer was given (likely the same here). Since I'm already on the 19.24 --> 6.99 Holiday APR on my Delta Gold card, they denied me any consideration to lower my 19.24 APR ("You are already on a lower APR offer. Check back in a year").

Since this is a Spring offer, probably not as many will get it, perhaps this is targeted to newer AMEXes?

They also sent me notes to remind me I had the lower APR so I could carry a balance. And sent more notes. And again. Allowed myself to let $1,500+ report then am paying that down at $300 per month and now not using the card at all except for one or two < $10 charges. They seem to be happy. The reminders have stopped.

I recieved a similar email yesterday except they offered me 9.99 APR for 12 months . I hardly ever carry a balance, but 6.99 would be awesome just in case. Congrats!
