I recently was approved for the Chase freedom card and noticed Chase offered an amazon card, that has 3% back on amazon purchases.

I use Amazon quite a bit and figured if I got that card I could use it if the freedom 5% back calendar cycle wasnt on Amazon

The advice I was looking for is, is it smart to apply when I applied for the CSP 2 months ago and was denied, then applied and got the freedom one month ago?

I dont want to appear credit hungry and my ulimate goal is to get the CSP in the near future, building a relationship with chase seems like a smart move

Anyone have the Amazon card? How do you like it? I assume the cash back goes into the points pool for your whole chase account and isn't tied to one card

Is it wise to have so many applications in such a short time? especially with the same bank?

I like the Amazon card and use for Amazon and pharmacy purchases. I had the opposite experience as you and was denied for the freedom, and then instant approval on both the chase amazon and ritz carlton the same night. Approved with something around a 680 if I remember correctly

I have absolutley no idea what you mean by UR...I hate these acronyms in the forums, they are hard to find on google and I feel stupid not knowing, then its like of course it means that, how did I not realize haha

Since it is offered by Chase and is a cash back card I assumed that you got the cash back in the form of points, which was added to your other cash back with chase and their system. It seems weird that it would be a different system to me for that card

I guess I don't have more than one chase card though and I'm a bit confused now

If you have a freedom and CSP do the points earned through both not go into the same points pool?, or at least have the option to transfer one card's points to another?

If not then the card system I have in my head is completely useless

You are right, it does'nt, just checked their website. Thanks, I guess it's not good to assume things. I'd rather not have the card then, you still are getting more than 1%, but it would be in a separate cash back account. I don't shop at amazon that much to justify it, plus there are better cards out there for it, if thats the case

I gotcha. I was just thought it might be a way to supplement my cash back with chase. I dont really care so much for an amazon card, I am with chase for the travel benefits and large selection of compatible airlines to spend points on, etc...

For travel benefits, you're definitely better off holding out for the CSP. If you want another Chase card in the meantime and stay at hotels a few nights a year, consider the IHG or Marriot cards since they both have some nice bonuses right now.
