What's the big deal with the Ring?

why is everyone going Ring crazy? What is so great about it. I see the low(er) APR and community based benefits.. But what is it? I have to be missing something.

At least for me, its just seemed like a good emergency card. My other cards are rewards cards with either moderate or ridiculously obscene APRs, so I applied to have a card to float myself through a tough spot if I ran into one. I'm thinking about moving to California for additional graduate study, which will be expensive. I'm sure the Ring will come in handy then.

Thanks for asking ...I was wondering too as the card exist for a while and has not changed to a special promo or something ...to me a complete mystery why all the sudden everybody goes app crazy about the Ring especially when there is the great promo on the US Airways card running out from the same lender..😇

Oh yeah, as far as Ring, 8% APR and no annual fee from a non CU says it all

If you must buy something large that you cant pay off right away, I dont know of a better card from a major bank

If you think that the Ring is no big deal, then it means that your finances are in order and you are using your credit cards properly.

IMHO, the Ring is the worst credit card. It makes you relax financially because you have a "backup" for emergencies. You should never think that it's okay to carry a balance, even at a 0% APR.

Or a low interest rewards card almost at the same level. I believe there are members with as low as 4% or so on the Ring and at this rate I could get maybe weak to apply 😉

Well, a ring symbolizes commitment and marriage, and has a "im taken" feel to it, and its every womans dream to have it....oh..youre talking about the CC i cant get...;( LOL

I disagree with that sentiment because in many ways that is the whole points of credit. Most people couldn't pay cash for a home so they get a mortgage and they pay interest on it which makes it affordable.

I know to some paying interest is a cardinal sin but your paying for a service essentially. If your able to do the things you want and always pay cash or you just don't do anything you can't afford with cash, that's fine but access to credit for some can improve their quality of life and it dosent mean you have to mortgage your financial well being to do it.

Being financially responsible is one thing but there is nothing wrong with financing some things and paying banks for that service.

I had never heard of "The Ring" until this post, but after looking over the info. I think having a card with 8% APR is a good card to have! One never knows what the future may bring and I do not see anything wrong with having a card with 8% APR and no annual fee. Am I missing something? What is there not to like about this card?

The Ring is so 2013/2014. No seriously everyone knows my love for the Ring. 8% apr, $0 bt fee, $0 annual fee,$1 cash advance fee. It's the ultimate emergency card. Hasn't been extremely popular since most Myficoians chase rewards. So Nixon's app the other day just brought it back to the forefront.

You're taking it way further than what I wrote. I meant credit cards. It's a dangerous beast and you can easily go overboard and start carrying a balance for stupid things. That's why I wrote that you shouldn't THINK that it's okay to carry a balance. It's this mentality that will keep you in good financial health. A mortgage or a car loan is different because it's (generally) a one time loan with no revolving credit available for general spending.

Someone wrote earlier about buying things that you cannot pay in full as an example of why a low interest rate is a good thing. This is an example of the worst reason to get a low interest credit card. If you're buying something you cannot afford simply because you want it now, then that's just being immature (and financially stupid), and you're the reason why the banks are so profitable.

OTOH, people paying interst are partially the reason why the banks can afford to give other users high rewards on certain cards, so I guess I shouldn't make a big stink about some people choosing to pay interest.

Ring is a low APR card meant for when you need to carry a balance. Every portfolio should contain a card like this. For me I already have a CU card that's nearly identical except my APR is 9%. If you don't have a card for times when you need to float a balance then you should get one and Ring is a very good option.
