American Express FR after 1 month

wow, I've only had my account for only one month and AMEX suspended my accounts for a FR!

WTH! They want 3 months of bank statements a letter SS statement.

I am thinking about closing because I feel violated and this is an i convenience...all for a new acct.!

pls advise.

If that's all they're asking for it's really not a big deal. At least they're not asking for your tax documents.

Did you trigger something? Which card. Need some info, something spooked them. For my personal Amex, I only included social security and investment income, plus a paid bonus. For my Amex business, exact same personal income, and projected revenue.

If they want an FR on my personal income, there is only one document I need to chase down (actually the bonus document too), and I have the statements. I've had my personal since October, and a little over month for business. No FR yet.

Since having the card, what did you charge on it? Something must have triggered it and it will help get you the best answers if you don't mind sharing. As someone already stated, at least it is not tax documents they are asking for..

I charged plane tickets and car rental to NY to attend a funeral...then I charged 1,200 for a sewing machine for my DW.

I have several bank accounts...its a pain...but I think they only asked for statements from one account...I guess to show my social security deposits.

I guess! But gee whiz...I've never heard of this and it's not like a have a huge CL!

Have you made any payments between those charges? You stated the CL isn't huge so I'm curious how close you came to maxing it out. Maybe that was an issue

Sorry to hear. That is not a lot but if you don't mind me asking, what Amex card is it and what is the limit on it?

Also, they did ask for tax documents but I told them I don't have it...that I am retired.

i also feel away about my privacy because they want all pages of my statements.

and between me and my DW income is 107k but they told me they will not use both of our income.

Don't worry too much about privacy, after all if you use your card they'll see where you spend your money, do I care that barclay sees most of my spendings are at Starbucks and Jack in the box? Nope!

General rule of thumb: if they ask for tax documents they want to verify your income. If they ask for bank statements they think you are manufacturing spend.

Since they asked for tax documents and the account is new, they probably think you might have overestimated your income when you applied. Did you run a lot through the card in your first month?

For me, they wanted a 4506-T, and a letter on official letterheard from my bank with my account number.

No, I have rec'd a statement yet...

I forced payments through CS during the wait period. I also didn't ask for even 2x for my personal card. They let you make payments every ten days. You said one card open one month. Did you use your wife's income on the app? And you stated two cards?

i didn't overestimate income. I thought you use your household income...which I did use Mine and DW but now they said I can't use her income just to use mine. So will they close the account anyway because they will not count income from my wife.

I'm sorry for the confusion as I am not a good typist. I opened two cards and yes I used my DW income as well because I thought I was or could use both of our income, no?

I would call and ask for help. You can use household income, but they expected some payments with that income. Did you max the cards out? Do you have high balances on your other cards?
