Merrick Credit Card CLI?

I’ve had a Merrick credit card for over two years now. When I signed up for the card, it said I would receive a credit limit increase over time. In the time of over two years, I’ve received zero. I’ve never been late and my account was always on a auto-pay. I also made payments here and there on top of the auto-pay. My limit has always stayed at 1,000.

I’ve called their customer service line and a couple times and each time I’m told the same exact thing. “That is really strange you should have received at least a couple by now, but sorry there is nothing we can do. It’s up to the system” Apparently the system decides if and when you receive a CLI. I’ve been told somehow, my account has slipped through the cracks, but then they give me no option of resolving it. What can I possibly do about this? If any. I really want to get a higher limit for the simple fact of better utilization rating.

Any advice?

I'm on mobile so I can't see if you have a signature. But have you thought about applying for a new card? As for merrick I'm guessing the computer just auto grants a line increase. I feel Like the reps are giving a generic response though I don't have experience with merrick. I feel best thing would be apply for new card.

Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do. The entire Merrick system runs on auto pilot. Cardholders are not allowed to request any changes, whether that be interest rate reductions or credit line increases. And their CSRs are not empowered to do anything.

My scores are not ready, I don't think to apply for new cards. Store cards, I'm good with, but Visa,MC

Capital One just recently gave me CLI on all three of my cards, but right now with a scores between 589-615 it's not time yet (I don't think) to apply. I was just hoping to get an increase from Merrick to help.

That's why you haven't seen any increases from Merrick.

merrick has a double your line card where your limit doubles after 7months of on time payments. I don't think that is FICO score contingent. did you ask for a supervisor?

That's only if you specifically receive that offer. Not all come with that.

I know of that offer, but I think that is semi new or it wasn't offered to me at the time. It did however state that I would receive CLI after I make a certain amount of payments I don't remember exactly what it said. I wish I would have kept it! I want to say 6 months? Anyway, I called them about a year into the card and then I just called them a couple weeks ago about it again. Almost the same answer. Quite cold customer service I might add. Not exactly rude but not super friendly either. Do they have backdoor numbers or anything like that? It's just so strange.

My Merrick card has had slow growth. Haven't seen an increase in about a year and a half. It was a decent card when I started rebuilding. Now it has the lowest credit line. Just use it once in awhile. Giving it some action this month. Made some large purchases today and will probably run it real close to the $1600. CL then pay it down (off?). Maybe a month or two of heavy use will trigger an increase. I don't expect it to goto $5k.

My current scores are in my signature. The GoScore that they use is 700 this month.

I ran the card to just under the limit of $1600.00 last month then paid it off before the statement closed. This month I've used about half of the limit. Decided to call to see what they'd say about an increase. I knew what the answer would be but the answer is always "no" if you don't ask. I was given the answer that I expected. They don't accept customer requests for an increase. Accounts are reviewed once in awhile to possible increase the limits. Oh well. I'm going to give it heavy use again this month then get back to using my rewards cards. I'll run a little through it each month. Would be nice if the limit eventually goes to $5k. Doubt that. Even $2500-$3500. wouldn't be bad.

In the same boat. I have had the card for quite a few years with them. I saw 1 auto CLI. It went from $1000 to $1450 and haven't had another one since. My score on their page is 711. I have several other cards as high as $7500. Unfortunately because they won't go higher I stopped using it and that is probably why they don't increase it. That evil game with credit cards.

I doubt they give out CLs as high as $5k, they're a subprime lender. I've had the card for almost 4 years and carried a balance as high as $1100 a couple years back when things were tight. I have $3100 CL but almost a year since any CLI. And I din't expect any more CLIs, I've outgrown the card and just have Netflix & another small monthly bill charge to it and then PIF before statement just to keep it active and hopefully keep them happy. .

Merrick bank does not do any customer-initiated CLI. They only review accounts and auto-CLI, which is rare occurrence.
My card does not cost me anything, so I keep it open for reporting purposes only. Merrick won't grow with you.

Merrick likes usage and carrying balances. I started with a $500 limit 5 years ago and currently sit at $2050. Only put a small auto charge per month it

I like the auto-charge idea. I might just do that to maintain use each month. I believe some people pay an annual fee for this card. It doesn't cost me anything so I don't have any reason to get rid of it.

What are you limits on your other cards? I don't get the idea that Merrick has any rewards, so if you don't use the card, it may be time to close it, especially if there is an AF. Also, you probably have some derogs. You should head over to the Rebuilding Credit forum and see if you can do anything to get them removed. That is the single fastest way to raise your score.
