Got my 1st Chase Recon over with...

Just decided what the hell... I'm gonna bite the bullet and call Chase to recon the SW card that was declined for BK. Some of you remember that I burned Chase with unpaid CO and BK for about $10k, and have been scared to death to call, lol.

I was very nervous calling in, but needed the practice of recon lol. Anyway, was a decent call, he basically told me he couldn't approve me right now because of all my new accounts the last year, and recently, and not enough time since that, plus they wanted to see history first on all the new accounts.

I volunteered the info of past CO with them ( he never brought it up), told him my story and story for BK. I could tell he wanted to approve me, I asked for a $500 limit in reconsideration but the minimum on the SW card is $2k, and he wasn't willing to do that. He said my past with them wasn't a factor at all, it was the several new accounts. He understood my reasoning for aggressive rebuild, and complimented me saying, "you're the first person I've seen 1.6 yrs post a BK that already has over a $100k in credit"..."you're doing great at your rebuild, just leave everything the way it is and get some history on the new accounts, and then we can talk" . " you've got some nice limits on your capital one and Navy cards, and that will hold a lot of weight in the future".

Was very nice, said he was sending me a letter out to remind me why he couldn't approve me. I thanked him for his time, and felt it was a positive and much needed conversation to have. Gives me hope to stay in garden, close a few store cards in a few years when they age to 2 yrs. All and all, I'm glad I called. I got the feeling that he wanted to see 1-2 yrs of history on all those new accounts, and then reapply.

Yes, seriously.. you must stop applying for everything. I see a new store card every week. If I recall you have 30+ inquiries on each CRA.

If you really want prime lenders, then you need to garden. You have more than enough to build a thick file after your negarive accounts fall off. You obviously don't need any more credit since as you stated, you have over 100k thus far. Now apping has become an addiction. Just my opinion.

I found Chase to be very helpful when I reconned with them last July when I got denied for the Freedom. I spent the next 6 months addressing the items outlined to me and successfully app'd for a CSP in January with instant $5K approval.

Pizza, you've done an awesome job rebuilding after BK! Best advice is to garden, garden, garden and perhaps do a little pruning. I know gardening doesn't come with the same rush as apping for cards, but it will pay off in the end. Personally I busy myself with builidng up a retirement portfolio, researching investments, and trading.

Are you being serious? And I thought I had a ton. My EX got hit the hardest but it doesn't have as many like that at all.

Wow.. Just don't do any more. I know it can be hard but try.. Always think of the huge credit line you'd get compared to what you have now anytime you think about applying.

ok, lets just all remember here that I called Chase for the first time in 13 YEARS, LOL, AND I WAS SCARED. It was a good productive phone call, and very encouraging to me.. Yes, Im staying in the garden, except for SP CLI, and this winter around November Im calling Barclays back to combine limit, LOL no hard apps or new credit..
