Thanks for the reply. During these 15 years, I have never applied for any AMEX card. Always thought that they may have blacklisted me.

i was charged off by AMEX in 2000 i.e. about 15 years ago. What are the possibilities of me being accepted for a proper AMEX cc. My current scores are in 725 range, six figure pay, mortgage, car loan.. all in good standing.......

Amex is traditionally pretty unforgiving and unforgetting (if that's a word). Your scores look and such look good now that they may be willing to extend credit to you again, but I know amex is one to hold grudges for quite some time. As always, YMMV. Good luck!

There's really only one way to find out the cold hard truth. APPLY, from what others have said that if you are blacklisted it will decline you immeditaely without a HP BUT that may be a YMMV thing.

I'd always heard how unforgiving Amex was...

I had a $5k CO with them in 2009 and finally paid them (in settlement...42% of what I owed) at the end of January. March 11th, I was approved for an EveryDay card with a $5k limit with scores in the 660's.

Sooooo... applying is worth a shot.

I only applied to see if I got HP'd (checking for blacklisting) and ended up getting a card. Shocked the #*@( out of me.
