I think you are in great shape for a rebuild. Garden those trades and wait for those scores to soar.

I have been on a long rebuild and my scores have have come up from 440(!) and I have gone over 600 on all of the bureaus. I had a Credit One account for almost a year and it served its purpose, but today before the fees started charging again in May I closed it!!

I have gotten the Merrick no annual fee preapproved card and the CL on it should double in 2 months or so. Capital One gave me a chance again and I got a $300 Platinum Card last month. Where should I start to look next for an approval? The rebuild process has been slow and painful, but some of my accounts (Amazon) I did manage to keep in good standing and I know that the more positive tradelines I can build the better off I will be.

Does Merrick Bank still do their pre-approved offers via snail mail, or do they have a pre-qualify on their site now? I always read that they come to you

Once your TU hits around 640 I would look at Barclays Rewards for Average credit. That Cap1 card may also give a decent increase at 6 months age.

The Merrick card pre approval came in the mail. After having it a bit I got gutsy and went for Capital One.

I had 12,000 limit cards for years so the slow rebuild does seem frustrating. After a year and a half I'm ready to have normal cards again. Hopefully next year.
