Time for the periodic reflection on my progress

Every now and then I like to reflect on the progress I have made. Since my story is rather long, I decided just to do a snapshot this time rather than writing a dissertation

Where I was when I joined myfico Jan. ‘2013:

CCs – 1 – Chase (no reward) Platinum Visa

6 student loans approx. $23K

Where I am now:

All student loans paid.

1 auto loan started at $24K - now at under $7K

Discover It $8K

Barclays WEMC $14.2K

Barclays AA Red Aviator $5K

Amex PRG NPSL

Amex ED $20K

Amex Gold Delta $10K

Crew $5.1K (This may get the ax soon)

VS $2.25K

Loft $1.7K

I made a few mistakes (applying for Chase cards) along the way, but I am quite pleased with my progress. I've earned some fabulous rewards, and have the flexibility to choose what types of additional rewards I want to earn going forward.

Thank you myfico!! I would not be in this position without the knowledge and support I gained here. It has been an awesome journey!

Congrats on your journey and paying down your debts! Why would you consider appling for Chase a mistake, ouf of curiosity?

Even though I was banking with them at the time and had a spotless record of pyament with them for over 4 yrs, they declined the car dealer's app. Mind you they were not IIB and I never burned them. That should have told me my credit profile was not to their liking, but I tried for the CSP and Marriott (spaced out - not at the same time). Both were denied. The CSP might have worked, but the Marriott was more of a whim app and I'm happy it didn't go through. I rarely stay at Marriott's.

For me Amex is a better fit, and they seem to have completely forgiven my past transgressions.

+1 totally makes sense! Do what is right for you and glad that Amex is working great! Keep up the great work!
