I want to add a low rate card to my lineup, recommend something good please!

I want to add a low interest card... I currently use the heck out of my NFCU cash rewards card. I run from 4-10K a month through it and mostly PIF. Sometimes there is a 1-2K or so carry over from between when I make the payment and when the statement cuts, but I watch my utilization closely. I dont need a low rate card but reading here made me realize I should have one just in case I need to carry a balance.

I am considering just apping for a NFCU Platinum card. I want to make sure whatever I get has a high enough limit that if I have to carry a balance I am not freaked about utilization. I think NFCU would give a good limit, but I really don't know.

My scores in sig and accurate, and all the cards are also. The only installment loan I have is new, just reported and am sending off the first payment on Friday, 20K Auto loan. I have about 80K income and VERY little debt. I think the last time I reported income to NFCU I reported 68 or 70K (I always under promise).

I have one paid charge off, $87. It is suppose to be deleted but that fight is still in progress. I also have some slow on my Cap1 card from early 2012 (if only I read this board then!)

Any input on cards I should BOLO for?

I just looked at the ring, Nice details for a emergency card and the 0% BT will work perfectly for this type of card. HOWEVER, looking at the CL's people are reporting (a short 5 minute search here) I would be worried about getting a 2K limit of something like that. 2K would be counter productive for the use I might need this card for (carry a balance). Do you have any input on starting limits for the ring? I will do some research on this card and approvals...

Is NFCU likely to match a CL on a 2nd card? I tried doing a search but everything I found was people that wanted a 2nd card very soon after their first app or had much lower scores/high utilization/worse situation...

I do most of my banking with NFCU also, I am sure that helps. I have noticed USAA gives more the more you are tied in with them.

You could also maybe apply for the FNBO Amex, currently being offered at 6.25% V? (There is also a recent thread here on the forum about it, as well?)

I remember seeing this last week and thinking to myself, WOW! How is FNBO about starting limits? Is there any reason to avoid FNBO? For some reason I got it in my head that they are a sub-prime/predatory lender, but I have no facts to base that on on and I very well may be confused with someone else considering the terms offered in that link! I would second the Barclaycard Ring. Although in my experience, Barclaycard is stingy with CL, they have a great APR and if you put 1000-2000 on it (and have a 3000 or 5000 limit), you should have no problem getting an auto-CLI. Another option is UFCU: https://www.ufcu.org/personal/cards/great-rate I want to make that my next card personally. Hopefully that helps.

My NFCU platinum is 8.9 % with a 40k cl. It was my second navy card, Took some time to catch up with the first limit.

Before being approved for the FNBO Amex, I have had an FNBO Maximum Rewards VISA at 10.99% V. Granted, it was technically a PC from a previous BoA card that BoA later stopped servicing, but my CL on that card was originally around $3,000. When I later paid off and transferred a large chunk of the balance on the Maximum Rewards card, FNBO gave me an auto-CLI to about $5,600 total They also give regular targeted promotional offers, such as 7.99% fixed BT offers for life and fee-free, 9-10 month 0% BT offers, and even a 9-month purchase APR reduction to 2.9% fixed, so I have nothing but praise for FNBO, in my experiences with them so far
