Unexpected Ritz Carlton card surprise.

Hey everyone, so last week sometime I applied for the ritz carlton card and got approved. Got the card earlier today, but didn't have time because I was a little busy today. So a little while ago I opened the box. I must say the presentation was pretty good, it was so good that I didn't look at the card until after flipping through the book. When I finally looked at the card to my surprise I noticed that it was plastic. That's right a regular plastic card with my name, credit card #, and membership rewards number on front in raised font. I don't know if they switched from metal to plastic or it's just my card but the plastic card didn't live up to the presentation. Oh well......I guess I'll put it through its paces when I go out of town and stay at a ritz carlton hotel in a couple weeks. I kind of want to call and request a metal one but, i think I'll hold off.

Very odd OP. I thought they stopped making the plastic Ritz. I would call and ask for the metal. They should overnight it to you.

Yeah man, they sent me a straight up plastic card. It was kind of a let down, I might call and ask for the metal but IDK.

It's happening to others right now. They apparently were overwhelmed with so many applications that they can't keep up with the metal cards.

Right now calling won't do any good. They are telling others that they don't know when or if they will send out the metal cards again.

Oh my best friend isn't going ot be happy.. He applied today and got approved... He loved the metal lol.. Going to be some upset people

Haha yeah, he'll be a little upset. Especially when you compare the presentation to the card itself lol. I think I might call them tomorrow and find out what's up with the metal cards.

I ordered a plastic card just for the purpose of having one.

I have two metal cards, gave one to the wife to avoid having to add as an AU. (And another new account on report)

Ya he is at a work dinner and asked me to call for him lol, that is how upset he is.. 34k limit looking all forward to metal and then I mentioned this post to him that I just saw.. I am sure they will be replacing the plastic one with Metal ones again once they are back in stock.. I would be hounding them at the $395 annual fee. He should of listened to me and applied two to three weeks back is all I told him.. I would be a tad upset as well.. Still does that same thing, but lets be honest alot of people have it for the wow factor of being 6x as heavy as regular plastic cards as well as the 140k sign-up bonus

Oh man, is he really that pissed? I mean, I'm a little disappointed, but like you said, they both do the same thing. I stay at ritz and Marriott often so for me it made sense. Let me know how his situation goes.

He is heading out of country next week and wanted a new toy lol.. Disappointed maybe, but doubt he is really upset if this comes out to be true for everyone. Sure they will provide the metal ones again as the CSP isn't fully metal, but they have no problem keeping up with those.. They just didn't estimate the demand and ran out of stock, sure they have more on order..
